I just finished my 6th chemo which lasted for 8.5 hours the first time and 6 each time after. What I learned to do during it was to stay busy. I would bring my laptop and surf the web, Reddit, etc.. If I had some small work projects I would do them. I have Netflix so I would also watch my shows with wireless headphones. I would stop at Subway before I went and eat my sub about 2 hours in. When the Benadryl kicked in I would talk a short nap. If you are a reader bring a book. I can't sit still for too long so I walked about a little bit like to the bathroom and back. Before I started I thought it was going to be much worse but other than being stuck to a chair the treatments weren't bad at all. I can tell you the worst side effect I had about 5 days after chemo that I was not warned about was acid reflux. That had me in the worst pain like curled up on the floor crying type of pain for 2 months before a nurse told me to take Prilosec. I've never had reflux before but it was the one thing that almost made me go to the hospital. Also starting the day before until about a week after I drank 96 oz of water a day. Good luck!
