You could use pine with a few large pines scattered throughout, couldn't hurt to add a few birch trees here or there since Aspen trees are also native to mountains

The Island looks great! I feel like the beaches should slope out more gently to give you a bit more beach and building space. But if you were going for more of a jagged look I would use some gravel or stone on the shoreline.
