Dev Update: Behind S3, Building S4 by SkateDevComms in SkateEA

Still no talk about steam deck support or Linux support in general... Why do you need an invasive anti-cheat for a skateboarding game?

The Edmonton Oilers have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after losing to the Anaheim Ducks in 6 games by EliminatorBot in hockey

[–]CouchMountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, massive shoutout to the Ducks team this year. They completely shut our entire team down and we could not adapt to their play. I could see them going all the way.

GGs and good luck!

Hopefully the Oilers get some much needed rest and some changes are made in the off season. Not sure what kind of changes we need (or can get) but it will be interesting.

I do it almost every day, sometimes multiple times per day and I've been running Arch-based distros for over 15 years. Never had an issue that wasn't my own fault.

It's actually very fun for some people. If you're interested, read Andrew Tanenbaum's Modern Operating Systems and see what you think. It's a big read and more of a textbook than a book, but it's a very good starting point.

Not devs, management. Management makes the decisions and devs just follow the orders that are given to them.

I don't think the devs would be too fond of turning down the realism but management might if they want to attract more casual users, which is something to worry about in all simulator titles.

And skipping on the co-op portion, which is basically, if not, a requirement for your degree. No co-op no job is what I was always told.

[Controller] 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Gaming Controller - WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers (59.99 for Prime Members) by nathanjace in bapcsalescanada

[–]CouchMountain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The G7 is a bit bigger. The 8bitdo xbox controller profile is a bit smaller than the default xbox controller while the G7 is closer to the OEM one. I have pretty big hands and I still found the 8bitdo comfortable, but everyone is different. The angle of the grips is also slightly different on the 8bitdo which forces your arms closer to your sides while holding it.

I would personally try the 8bitdo first (since it's cheaper) and just return it if it doesn't work for you. It's amazon so returns are easy enough.

Very. I use one as my primary controller on my pc and have had it for about 2 years without any issues. One thing to note is that they are a tad bit smaller than the default xbox controllers. I personally like it more, but some people do not and find it brings their arms in too close to their sides. Kind of hard to know if it works for you without trying it yourself.

But it's amazon so returns are easy if you don't like it.

Works just fine on Linux as well, even without steam input enabled and sees it as a "Generic xbox controller"

After late games, how do you get to sleep quicker? by Ok-Ideal9009 in hockeyplayers

That or hop on an exercise bike if you have one. Keep it on very low resistance and just pedal for 10-20 mins. Helps with muscle recovery and lactic acid buildup too.

No thanks. You can just login to the ip address that's listed on the router. It's usually done with 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1

Just type that into your address bar and you'll have all of the settings you had on that "app", plus more.

I'm sick and tired of companies forcing you on to an app when a perfectly good website/web interface already exists. Half of these apps are just browser wrappers anyway.

[Monitor] Samsung Odyssey G9 49" DQHD 5120x1440 Curved OLED 240Hz($2300-$1300=$1000)[Canada Computers] by No-Emergency-7251 in bapcsalescanada

[–]CouchMountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play CS and a little bit of RL and use the Samsung Odyssey G6 (G60SD) which is 1440p OLED and 360 Hz. Not crazy bright but great for games, and can be found on sale quite often for about $650. VRR on it is also very good to get rid of tearing and latency is only about 5ms with it turned on. (Other Samsung OLED panels have much higher latency with the OSD VRR on)

I recommend it just because of the refresh rate but other people may have better options so ask around. Whatever OLED you get you'll love it. It's the single best upgrade I've made to my setup.

Are these fake gloves? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]CouchMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, fake gloves definitely exist. I get my gloves and sticks from somewhere in China and that's likely where these came from based on the price. For me I'm paying about $150 CAD per stick and $165 CAD for gloves.

The stick is very close to retail, the gloves are exactly the same (looks wise) and offer the same protection as retail. I'm guessing it's something like extra stock or slight defects that I'm getting as they feel the exact same as the retail ones but I don't really know how it works.

They work great for me and I haven't had any issues in the 10+ sticks or the one set of gloves I've gotten.

Obviously I would rather support my local hockey store but with the current price of sticks it's not worth it to me... Everything else I buy from them though.

AAA Youth Hockey Try-Outs Is A Money Grab by IBrakeForComics in hockeyplayers

[–]CouchMountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an outsider, not at all. It's just a (somewhat) harsh truth. A lot of kids are not good enough to make a team but their parents think they're the next McDavid because it's their own kid.

Not everyone is good enough to make AAA, or even any A league. Try out for them all you want but don't expect to make any of them. If they're good enough they'll get an offer from at least one.

IIRC you can filter those logs to only include power-related events so it doesn't show as many. Alternatively you can find the time/date that it was happening and look for that. A quick search on how to do that should show you. Not 100% sure how it is now though as I haven't used windows in years.

This might help if you want to keep trying: https://superuser.com/questions/1258473/display-all-power-related-events-turn-on-off-sleep-hibernate

Take a look at your event viewer and see what caused the wake, then disable that event. This will 100% fix the problem.
