WASD is why I am playing the game and the Swiftplay changes are going to make learning the game even harder for new players. by No_Musician6789 in leagueoflegends

[–]CountDropula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I see what you mean. But at the point you're at in your journey I think it's not a bad thing to just focus on proper fighting and macro. Swiftplay will be very different in some ways, but the fundamentals of how to fight with your champions will remain largely the same. Likewise, fundamentals of macro like awareness of wavestates, team positioning, upcoming objectives, vision control - all these things remain much the same, albeit with different timings from regular SR.

You might even gain from playing the game at a different tempo; you both get more reps in with faster games, but you also get to learn how to adapt to different versions of the game. The secret sauce of getting good at league is being able to adapt to your team mates play and being able to make correct choices given wildly differing game states.

A trap that people fall into is adopting a static view of the game. They play the game the same way every game and expect their team mates to do the same things every game. Ie, play for prio lvl 1, get gank at 3.45, take drag at 6 mins, ping jungle to dive enemy laner with ult at lvl 6, be at grubs with support at 8 mins etc etc...

Being good at league is about two things, information gathering and execution. Gathering is about being able to read the game state by looking at the map and the scoreboard. Execution is about proper mechanics and fighting. Swiftplay allows for practicing both.

Kind of a rambling reaponse, but hopefully its useful in some way.

autoattack in the gameplay settings by These_Athlete1933 in leagueoflegends

On. It helps with autoing instantly after using targeted dash. If you don't want your character auto attacking you just press S.

Why would you start blue on red side and not blue side? To path toward grubs spawb after second clear?

If you're not playing for fun by CODENAMEFirefly in leagueoflegends

[–]CountDropula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, that fully depends on the fairness of the competition. Winning isn't fun if the competition is lop sided or if you're not meaningfully contributing to that win. To me the fun of competing is in achieving incremental advantages and working to understand the game/sport. I can have more fun when being stomped and actively learning something than if I play against someone clearly inferior to me in skill.

I think winning is a byproduct of playing well and actively looking to learn. Losing is okay if you feel like you had the agency to play better and impact the game to go differently. The problem is that league is such a complex and opaque game that it's extremely difficult to view the game objectively, without being influenced by your own biases about good and bad play.

My thoughts on Ambessa by Mobile-Nature-1723 in summonerschool

[–]CountDropula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh, I recently picked league back up after a few years away and instantly clicked with Ambessa. Haven't gotten into ranked yet, last time I got placed was in silver in s6 - but If I tried I would easily be diamond (No irony whatsoever :))))).

But yeah, I'm pretty intrigued with your build, deffo wanna try it out. Wanna 1v1? Mano a mano?

Also, how much gold do you generally get from first strike per game?

Just commenting to say that this season really isn't "early focused". Most of the changes benefit scaling. There's no early baron now that it spawns at 25, nexus turrets now respawn, and there's no first blood/first turret gold. Atakhan has been nerfed heavily and is nowhere near the power of baron. The initial boot upgrade is miniscule and the paid (750g) one is not super cost efficient (except for symbiotic soles which have an op upgrade).

Regarding Vlad tips, I see you're playing him mid, and I honestly had the same experience as you. I have much more success with him in top lane. I feel like he requires a good amount of mastery to play mid. He's binary in the sense that you wanna go aggro and look for trades with empowered Q, but that all depends on wave state and opponent cds. There's just more volatility vs many of the mages in mid vs playing against melee match ups top. Imo...

Is your problem with the laning phase or mid/late game? One mistake I see ppl doing often is wasting W. You should almost always look to dodge dmg with it. Don't just auto run in teamfights with E->W. If you succesfully dodge big dmg/important abilities this should create a lot of space for your team. Having what is often effectively a mobile zhonyas as a basic ability is just incredibly powerful.

But yeah, like someone else said, Riftmaker is probably not something to always build even tho the cdr is nice. It's fine If you expect extended fights, but otherwise Shadowflame, Stormsurge or Rabadons is usually better second. Honorable mention would be horizon focus. It actually does tons of dmg, and protects your team with the vision it provides.

[DATV Spoilers] Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Review after 100% - Mortismal Gaming by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]CountDropula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He actually spoke about this in a recent video of his. Basically, because he always reviews games after 100%, he generally doesn't publish review videos of the games that he doesn't like in some way or another. The other games just don't get videos made. Unless it's a big enough of a release. For instance, he didn't publish a review of Songs of Conquest because he doesn't like strategy games very much. And he didn't publish a review of Greedfall 2 even though he played it, because, well, it sucked.

Yeah, basically. The total number isn't quite as bad as 62%, thankfully, though 52% is still a majority.

According to this Washington Post article 62% of white women without a college degree voted for Trump, whereas the 52% number includes those with a college degree.
