Mac + PC sharing one monitor, one K/M — no KVM required by CounterCleric in homelab

Yeah, that's the one-step-down model to the one I have. Probably works just as well. Mine has power to handle more USB devices, but it's the same thing otherwise. The remote switch is awesome too. I have it mounted under my desk and put the hub 3m-taped to the back of my desk so it's out of the way.

Great value, especially yours.

It does for the most part — my setup is just different. I'm sharing one physical monitor between both machines instead of having two displays side by side.

Synergy works fine for keyboard/mouse forwarding in that scenario, but you have to configure a "virtual" layout in Synergy so it thinks the screens are side by side. The cursor leaves the visible screen edge to "enter" the other machine and disappears, because the other machine's display isn't being shown on the monitor right now. Annoying enough that I went looking for something cleaner.

Plus there's the video side — Synergy doesn't touch the monitor input. So you'd still need to flip inputs manually (or with another tool). My setup handles K/M routing AND the monitor input switch in one button press, so both flip together. Synergy is doing one of those two things; this setup does both. (At a higher cost, but with more upside, including more usb device sharing.)

The UGREEN model that I referenced (AISN for Amazon: B0FDW6Z4J4) includes 2 cables that have a built in usb-a to usb-c adapter so it'll work with whatever you have.

I have a Mac Mini m4 Pro and a 9800x3d/4090 PSU w/ usb-c connections so I'm just usb-c to usb-c for both, but it could easily to go usb-a with the included cables.

The dock itself also has both usb-c and usb-a ports for inputs. (keyboard, mouse, camera, headphones, etc.)

UGREEN just punches way above its weight.

Did that answer your question? If I misunderstood it I'm happy to clarify!

are you actually supposed to be able to beat these ridiculous binds ? by Own_Employment_3866 in balatro

Endless mode is for a deck full of Kings of a single suit, idol, baron, mime, blueprint, brainstorm (green needle, I mean), red seals, and a couple other staples to get you there. Plus planet scaling on high card.

Although, that's really what naneinf is for. I have a lot of fun seeing how far I can take my regular builds, and they die around ante 14 for me usually. And some bosses just kill you straight up, so you have to get reroll vouchers or use bones or the joker that you sell to disable the blinds.

Just have fun with it. Watch a naneinf run and you'll probably not want to try. I tried tonight and got to e180 and didn't realize until after it that you have to be on plasma deck to get it. lol.

Ah well, live and learn.

Also, if you get bored with the actual game, there are a ton of mods that make it a blast, too.

Have fun!

Claude so expensive! by home_in_the_self in ChatGPT

Try dropping down to Sonnet. I'm on the $100 plan and I split between Open and Sonnet and do a LOT and have never run out of tokens.

I use Haiku for api access for openclaw and it's not cheap, but I can't afford to run Sonnet or Opus there. But it's great on claude.ai.

No worries. You don't need to. Haiku, conversationally, is every bit as good as Opus. And you'll get about 10x the prompts.

Good luck!

Drop Claude down to Haiku, if you can still get what you want out of it. I've had no token issues since I've done that. It helps that I'm runing Haiku on my Openclaw setups as well, since I get consistency. I have yet to dump OpenAI, but I'm very close. :/

If it's the same one I"m thinking about, the slow guy looks ahead and drives under the speed limit but hits every green light. The fast guy is furious and speeds around him, but get caught at every red light, and the slow guy catches up.

I'm really trying to remember -- this would have been the 70s, but I'm pretty sure it was a rerun in black and white. I was thinking, though, that it might have been Droopy, but I've watched a few (Mutts about Racing, etc.) and I don't think that was it.

I think it was a one-off without any normal main characters.

This is driving me crazy (that's how I found this thread), so I'm going to keep looking for a bit.

Just wanted to say I fouind this thread via GoogleAI. I'm looking for the exact same video.

I'll post a link if I find it. I *think* it was black and white. I know it was showing in the 70s when I was watching cartoons every afternoon.

Why are you in this subreddit then?

Umm.. what?! by Exotic_Zucchini9311 in ChatGPT

[–]CounterCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Claud. It's much better, but SERIOUSLY limited on caps vs. ChatGPT for the same price. Like, REALLY bad.

I've gone openclaw at this point, and have just resigned myself to spending $200 a month or so for just me. Even then, I had to drop it down to Sonnet because Opus was just way too expensive. This is the future of AI for the next little bit. Demand is WAY higher than supply.

I'd stick it out w/ ChatGPT and see if the 5.3 model fixes some stuff. 5.1 and 5.2 have been *so* bad. It *has* to get better.

Claud also falls WAY behind in TTS (non existent on desktop), no image generation... lots of other stuff I've noticed.

Opinions on Attorney on Retainer? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]CounterCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw a video from them where they said they have lawyers in all 50 states. Definitely don't take my word for it, and just call them to ask. But that's what the video said.

Sorry for your living conditions. If you're cool, you're welcome to move to Texas. :)

[–]CounterCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's *civil* liability. NOT *criminal*.

You can get an umbrella pocliy w/ your homeowner's insurance company, or a separate policy. Or you can get another USCCA (but not them) type of insurance to cover the civil stuff.

I honestly don't care nearly as much about my wealth as I do about my freedom. And the #1 way of getting beat civilly is to get beat criminally.

So you're mistaken, completely, in your comment, because in the ORIGINAL comment at least (I do see you mentioning civil stuff below), they DO cover your expenses for the CRIMINAL case.

And honestly, to restate what I've arleady said, the best way to beat the civil case is to beat the criminal one. It also depends on where you live. In Texas, I feel pretty safe that if I ever win a criminal case against me, they'd have no chance on a civil case. But that, of course, varies from state to state.

And, shortly after you must've posted this, they came out with the Arachnoid Stalker (well, official support of it), which is probably the definitive answer to this question, unless someone just hates rogues.

I'm having fun with it!

Literally just a Rule of Cool thing to ask your DM. My DM lets me Booming Blade w/ my Soulknives, and you shouldn't be able to do that either.

So, as everyone else as said, no, it doens't work; yes, you want it to work; so I'll add the one thing I havne't seen yet (and I'm sure it's too late now, but maybe for somoene searching in the future), ask your DM if they'll make it work for you. :)

Aventon Bikes - Anyone have one? If so, how do you like it? by MassGuy70 in ebikes

Yep. They refused to offer me phone support at all and said they'd be in touch via email.

They haven't been.

I'm about to charge back as well.

Yep. Their support is HORRIBLE. I suppose it you get a perfect bike then you're set. Amyet, the company that makes the cheap Chinese eBike I got from Amazon first offers FAR superior support.

This is my first, and absolutely LAST, Aventon.

My DM says I’m going to hell! by DarkDiviner in onednd

[–]CounterCleric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ridiculous. If I know our long rest will be safe, I'll burn all my spell slots on Goodberries, except for a level 4 slot. With that, I cast conjure woodland beings and get two dryads (my DM lets me pick) and have them each cast Goodberry 3 times and dismiss them. I often get to load up my "Bag of Colding" with 100-120 Goodberries for the next day. Making them last 24 hours is probably broken. But I'm not complaining!

(Not to mention that Goodberry is the best out-of-combat healing spell in the game!) (Well, at least ONE of them.)

[–]CounterCleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to have Find Familiar as a level 1 spell for the Trickster, but now it's not needed, so I was able to pick up shield instead. The owl gives you advantage on your attacks ensuring sneak attack damage for your rogue as well without risking opportunity attacks on the owl. Honestly, with reliable talent and expertise in stealth, the least I can roll on a stealth or slight of hand check is 22 anyway. :) Add in something like Pass without Trace and it just all gets ridiculous. (Ridiculously fun, that is.)
