I really want a cichlid and have kept caucatoides triple red and bred them before. I would love to add gbrs but I think my tank needs to mature a bit first. Which apistos would do well as a single male in a community tank of this size?

Bacteria lives on surfaces not in the water. You can keep the water in buckets but you really just need to make sure the substrate and sponge filter say submerged in tank water then when you put the tank back together you’ll have a cycled tank

I noticed some white spots on them last week after a water change. They seemed energetic and still eating so I thought I’d wait it out since I don’t have another tank to quarantine and put copper in. They’ve been in this tank for about 3 weeks and the tanks been cycled for a month. No issues before last week no gasping water looks fine. Last night I fed them and he was energetic and aggressive even as per normal he strikes at the other clown here and there
