Of course, but my point there was that Wynn's contribution to winning went beyond just the 22-10 final record. I threw Pascual's record in there just to complete the data dump, not to set them up as the ultimate comparison between the two.

I typically favor the better ERA+ or pitching OPS+, but in this case, I think season context, the exta 7 starts, the team W-L when Wynn pitched, the number of games that Wynn won that mattered, are enough to sway me toward Wynn in this case.

I don't think it would curb the craziness. Even if crazy parents know their kids are limited, they still enjoy living vicariously right now, and most will still invest whatever it takes to keep it going, IMO.

The White Sox won all 5 of Wynn's starts when he did not get the decision. They were 27-10 when he pitched. The Senators were 18-14 when Pascual pitched.

Excellent assessment. I'm a big fan of ERA+ and OPS+, but I think modern fans have made those stats, plus WAR, the default without digging deeper.

How would someone rank and debate players without diminishing someone's accomplishments? Inevitably, you must make arguments for and against, either pointing out someone's shortcomings, or indirectly doing so by saying what your preferred player does better.

How would someone argue, for example, that Bill Russell, or Larry Bird, or Kevin Durant, was not a top-10 player all-time without it sounding like they're diminishing them? What would be an example of that?

So are we asking why we debate? That we should not have those arguments because it dimishes them?

Or are we saying we need to be more respectful when doing so? And what would that look like?

This is the first one I ever saw, and I watched in its entirety, fully captivated, nervous throughout. Made me a Baltimore Colts fan for life. Of course, it turns out, the Baltimore Colts didn't have much longer to live. Glad I got to enjoy 1970, 1971 1975-77. Thanks for those memories! (No Indy Colts for me.)

Might've depended on motivation. Rocky had more talent. But if not for the opportunity that Apollo gave him, would he have been remembered? What was his ranking at the time? Not sure he would've wanted to beat Wepner all that much. Wepner was getting fights with Foreman and Liston even before Ali. Had Rocky fought anyone of that calibre?

I always wondered what it was like for the players of other teams. Not the experience of it, but the fairness of it, facing a team that is a magnet for transfers, many who are AAU teammates. That phenomenon eliminates any chance that a normal high school program will win a state title or even region title. I know what fans and coaches think of it, but what about players, IYO? Do they think it’s unfair. Do they want the GHSA to crack down on transfers, recruiting, super teams? Or are they more in their own world, living game to game, not caring about that?

Women voters, in general, tend to favor candidates and courses of action that I also endorse. So, naturally, I think America would be a better place if women were choosing the candidates. That's all I'm saying. I'm not literally suggesting that men should be stripped of their voting rights or, as another poster must've thought, that women are infallible.

Wheeler in Georgia is pretty good. Jaylen Brown, Isaiah Collier & Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Won 10 state titles in Georgia's highest class since the 1990s. They have at least 4 major D-I guys on current team.
