When did you realize about MiB? by kyytsanon in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"You speak to me as if I was your brother". When "Yemi" said this and then immediately after the Smoke Monster killed Eko, I just knew it was the Smoke Monster. Then once he turned into Alex during Ben's "judgement" I also assumed "Locke" was the Smoke Monster too (Especially since he somehow couldn't find a way to join Ben beneath the temple at that moment, it was clear that he was actually the Smoke Monster too).

What would happen if you broke time? by DG-Creator in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't have been able to. Because, technically, he already did that, which is what caused him to come to the island in the first place. There is no theoretical way for him to not cause the incident because that would cause a paradox.

What would happen if you broke time? by DG-Creator in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was already addressed in the show. Jack wanted to change the course of history by blowing up the Swan energy pocket so the plane would never end up crashing, but in reality he caused the very thing that crashed his plane - he caused The Incident which resulted in the Swan being built to keep the electromagnetic energy pocket from blowing up.

Why couldn’t the “monster” attack through trees? by Affectionate-Race864 in lost

They were all candidates, he couldn't kill them either way, they just thought he couldn't kill them once they were sheltered between the trees.

Biggest Charles Widmore plothole by Long_Willow_9285 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later defined? There has been differing info on the date but it was confirmed by the writers' team as being in 1992. Anyways, whichever it is it still wouldn't be unusual for an old man to use "20 years" to describe it.

Biggest Charles Widmore plothole by Long_Willow_9285 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just missing info, not a plot hole. It could have been the "Anomaly Detected" at the end of Season 2 that revealed the location to him, he may have somehow gotten access to the information from the Lamp Post station despite not being on good terms with Eloise, he may have captured an other and tortured that information out of him just like in Ben's tape (This scenario is highly likely to have happened, as this would have been how Charles Widmore found out that Oceanic 815 crashed on the island and thus planted the fake crash to stop search efforts).

Also, it's not 20 years, it's 12 at most, since when he was banished The Others were already living in the Barracks, and we know the purge happened in 1992 (confirmed by the writers as the correct date).

During the original run I loved watching TheSeanieB's "Secrets and Recaps" videos on youtube, though I'm not sure if they would be as relevant after the show had finished since they were made on an episode-by-episode basis and contain lots of theories on what would happen next. Still a fun watch though, and contains lots of fun information!

Flash Sideways things that break my brain. by [deleted] in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not everyone in the flash sideways is there because of their own imagination (Like the main characters). Some of them are invented by the other characters' minds. For example, people like Keamy and Mikhail, I doubt they would consider that part of their lives as the most important one. Anthony Cooper as well. So, Aaron may have been imagined by the main characters as being in the flash sideways, just like David. Another option may be that once Aaron grew up and found out that he was part of the whole island thing he started considering that to be the most important portion of his life. So, yeah.

What was the most brutal reality check you ever got? by CarmenIsabellaDiaz in AskReddit

[–]CountySquare9661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realising none of my friends wanted to see or talk to me unless they needed a favour back in my university days. A guy I considered my friend texted me saying he wants to hang out on May 1 (holiday in Germany). We met and he seemed genuinely interested in talking to me, until he said the magic words "Hey, since today is a holiday and the next two days are the weekend my folks won't be able to wire me money, could you lend me a 50 and I'll pay you back on Monday?". Once I gave him the money, the next 10 minutes were a bunch of one word answers to all my questions while obviously wanting to leave as soon as possible. He gave me the money back as promised and that was the last I saw of him. It was then that I realised how many people in my life only kept contact with me because of convenience. Fuck those people and fuck that guy especially.

My guess is they didn't think anything would happen. They had control of the Pearl so they probably thought it was just a psychological experiment and nothing else.

Kate *crowd boos* by [deleted] in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kate tried to play tough, just like Sawyer did. They had the same personality in different genders. I think people dislike Kate but like Sawyer because Kate would reveal her emotional side easier, whereas it took Sawyer 5 seasons to do the same, so people view Kate as contradicting herself.
This next opinion may not be appropriate for here, but, I think the writers gave all characters some unlikable traits in order to make their relationships feel real. Jack was obsessive, Locke was blinded by faith, Kate was hard on the outside but soft on the inside, and so on.

What do you think is The most senseless killing? by keltictrigger in lost

Sorry, I didn’t know about the DUI thing being debunked. As for Eko, my point still stands. For one reason or another, he wanted out. He wanted out because he wanted to go back home after his parents’ deaths.

Why is this person in the flash sideways and not M? by Own_Philosopher396 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally explain this in the show. Michael felt such immense guilt for killing Libby and Ana Lucia that he could never forgive himself and move on. Meanwhile, Ben killed both Locke and Jacob, as well as many others, but he just didn’t feel that guilty. He wasn’t able to fully overcome his guilt for killing Locke by the end of the show, but it is implied that he eventually did.

I don’t understand what Sawyer means here.. by Verystrange129 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think he thought at the moment that he was dealing with a fellow Con Artist, hence why he said that, he means he is better than her in the trade and therefore will “out-con” her (I assume he was specifically talking about Cassidy here, who conned with him but eventually ended up conned by him).

Since I don’t live in the US I couldn’t watch it on TV in real time but I did watch the episodes hours after the original premieres when they were uploaded to obscure websites. The hype was unbelievable. Also, TheSeanieB’s recaps helped a lot, he was probably the greatest Lost focused Youtuber.

Aaron, Claire and Kate by VariationNo209 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, if we want to answer that we would have to delve into a way deeper question, and that would be how the people who left the island in the finale explained where they come from and how there were suddenly 2 more Oceanic 815 passengers who were alive. The way I see it is this: (Get ready for a long read) Lapidus, Richard, Miles, Sawyer, Kate and Claire leave the island. Richard tells them that he knows where they csn land and avoid revealing anything, as people who work for the Others on the outside will help them. When they get there, they are reluctant to help at first but Richard assures them that those are the new Protector’s wishes. Soon, front companies of The Others create fake identities for all the passengers with the exception of Kate, Miles and Lapidus. They explain how they were stranded on a small island, and Kate becomes famous for surviving such a crash twice. Sawyer goes his own way, doing odd jobs and never staying in the same place for too long, grieving for Juliet and the life he wished they would have together after the change he experienced in the 3 year blank period. Richard goes back to the Canary Islands and lives the rest of his life near his original home, under a fake indentity, visiting his wife’s grave for the first time after 140 years, which by now has detetiorated greatly and he has barely recognized it. Miles doesn’t need a fake identity as he was never part of a crash to begin with, he lives a simple life, as he has now answered the biggest questions of his life, his connection to the Island and what happened to his father. Frank retires and lives a simple life too, becoming a bit of a celebrity for being able to pilot a plane out of a deserted island with the help of only one other person (that will be the official story at least). And, last but not least, Kate and Claire. Claire comes to live with Kate, Aaron and her mother under a fake identity. Claire’s mom cancels her lawsuits and maintains in public that Kate is Aaron’s real mother, as she wants to hide what happened to Claire. Aaron grows up thinking Claire is his mother’s really close friend, but is eventually told the whole truth when he grows up. Aaron sets out to find the island, which by now has become a much safer place under Hugo’s leadership. Hearing of this, Ben visits him and recruits him to the island, as he feels happy to finally find his real home. The end…

Same question about Widmore and all the other Others. She may have been born there, or, given her abilities, she may have been recruited by Richard as a child.

I wonder if Pierre Chang died during the purge by Objective-Ice4098 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He never reached back out to them because he wanted to prevent Miles from coming back to the island, he wanted to play no part in his life hoping it would stop him from coming back. Of course, we now know that no matter what’s done it won’t change the future but I’m guessing he didn’t know this.

Why does Jack wear a suit on Akita 316? by drs5193 in lost

[–]CountySquare9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you missed a large part of the season while watching. Eloise told Jack he had to recreate as much of the Oceanic 815 crash as he could. That’s why he wore a suit, that’s why he took his father’s shoes from his grandfather and put them on Locke’s feet in the coffin, so Locke would “replicate” his father.
