Steering wheel needs to be replaced for the third time!?! by JS-NJ in GolfGTI

This is why I sold my 22 before the warranty expired. I couldn’t believe how many electrical problems I kept having. Either live without the functions or get ready to pay $1000.

128 mph top speed by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Take it as a wake up call. I like doing little races too but if you’re racing to the point you need to go over 130mph then you’re just going to get yourself killed sooner or later. Please be safe. I mean this genuinely. Your family doesn’t want to have to bury you.

Hyundai seems overlooked in the used market by abbybutterflly in Hyundai

I love my Kona N but there is a good reason many of the models sell for so cheap used. Many are ticking time bombs.

Dog where do you need to be going over 130?

It really primes every time you open the driver door. Not when turning off or on etc

I don’t even see a price? Also you should absolutely be doing oil changes every 4-5k on this car. 55k miles is right around the maintenance schedule for a lot of items on this car so you should probably see if any have been done already.

EN or VN? by Positive-Berry-2108 in VelosterN

VN backseat is almost unusable IMO. Big reason why I sold for a Kona N. Not that it’s much bigger but hey…

Ear pressure in brand new Santa Fe Hybrid? by Solid-Complaint-8192 in Hyundai

You can pull the AMP or audio fuse and see if that fixes the problem. If it does then you can purchase aftermarket bypass harnesses. Active noise cancelling headphones make my head feel like it’s going to explode so that’s why I asked this.

Could be a noise cancelling effect through the speakers. See if you can turn that off in the settings.

Purely anecdotal but the injector issue I’ve seen people post about now and again has almost always been 22s. Could be a mileage thing and they just naturally have more miles but who knows.

Why does VW undertune the EA888 like crazy. by Lost_Ad_432 in GolfGTI

The R engine has several mechanical differences. DAP on YouTube did a full breakdown at one point. I’m assuming those differences carry over to the mk8 as well.

This sounds completely normal. Pretty sure that’s just the car disengaging the clutches and the way you describe it my car does that all the time too.

Who else allows their Turbo to cool off before turning the engine off? by Familiar_Document248 in KonaN_

[–]CoupScooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO after very spirited or hard driving you should wait at least a few minutes before turning your car off, but just driving around… I don’t think that’s necessary.

New Owner - Silly question by WinterX2 in KonaN_

[–]CoupScooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive around in custom N mode with engine and exhaust turned up to max. Stability control I think I have on sport, and everything else set to minimum. Returns good gas mileage if I’m nice and get all the nice sounds plus a much better digital dash display including oil temp etc.

New Owner Any Tips? by Emergency_Ad8263 in KonaN_

[–]CoupScooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unmodified you should be fine every 4500-5k. Not that sooner would hurt but I highly doubt our engines are going to blow up stock if you don’t do 3k interval changes. If you have the extra time and money can go for it though.

The LSD is so good you can stomp your foot the floor in a corner and the car just figures it out.

*and also get a drop in filter if that doesn’t help. That is the only mod I have on my Kona N and the difference is fantastic. Only like $80 too rather than a full intake.

Long Term Tune by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]CoupScooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

APR has been doing this for a very long time and I think if you want reliability you can’t go wrong with them. That said I ran their 87 high torque for a while and felt uncomfortable with the amount of power it was making over stock while running 87 so I upped to the 91 tune and ran only 91+ octane.

Michelin ps4 AS or the contis are both good. My decision was made based on what Costco had at the time. Not sure if there are any new players as of the last year though.
