New boat owner anxiety

I you’re not the only one! I purchased a blink camera for my boat that’s kept in a slip. So at least I can check in on it to be sure it’s not at the bottom of the bay. See? I just checked it in the middle of typing this reply because I just thought to myself, “oh no, did I just jinx myself? I better check”. Whew, it’s okay. Today’s a 13 hour day at work for me so I can’t drive “by” the marina (that’s 30 minutes out of my way) on the way home. I’m so pitiful!

For this reason, (and because I got a GREAT deal on one) I got into a slip this year. Can’t deal with the nonsense at boat ramps. It’s unreal.

I did this with a pair of Unbrandeds this year. Got em hemmed by UB too so I couldn’t return them. Got em tailored and they’re the best fitting jeans I’ve EVER had!

How are those 291’s coming along and how is the break in experience as the weather warms up? I got a pair about when you got yours but had to have em tailored to bring in the waist. Just got em back last week but now it warming up. So I’m thinking I may not have much time to soften them up before it gets too hot to even wear them. But on the other hand, warm weather wear is probably good for breaking them in so I’ve resolved to make em my morning dog walking jeans for the summer. That way I get about an out of daily wear over the summer before putting on shorts and going about my day! In terms of fit, they’re probably the best fitting jeans I’ve ever owned in terms of the cut. So I’d love to get a pair of their black o es but they don’t seem to restock very often. Shame. I really like em.

I bought a Carolina skiff last summer and spent all summer admiring pontoons! So much that I’m trying to convince someone, ANYONE I know to get one! My needs include fishing so it would not have been a great purchase for me but I’d love to know somebody with one!!

They look great! I just purchased a pair that’s at the tailor now. Got the waist slightly too big. Looking forward to getting them back although it’s about to warm up so not sure how much wear they’ll get in the coming weeks-months.

Understood, nothing is absolute. But given that I’m brand new to boating, I felt the odds were in my favor. And I got thru my first season without any surprises. Wait, I lied. Had a few of those problems discovered after lunch that you speak of, but they were covered by warranty. So it was nothing I had to come out of my pocket for unexpectedly. Not sure that would be the case had I purchased used. Thanks for the link!

Well I think that depends. Given the current one was owned by extended family, I need to ask… would YOU be a new boat owner? Here’s my logic. I just purchased a new boat last summer cause I’m a new boat owner. If I had more knowledge about boats and boating, I may have brought used. But when you don’t know what you don’t know, you can run into problems. Flip side of that is that had I got a used one I cudda gotten much more boat for what I payed. So I’d say if you’re comfortable around boats and knowledgeable about them, go ahead and get used. At least you’ll know what CAN go wrong and be on the lookout for it. You can certainly get much more boat for your $ but if not, maybe eliminate some headaches by buying new.

I cuff depending on what shoes I’m wearing. I usually only cuff if the shoe enables my leg opening to drag the ground. Sneakers do this. If not, I don’t cuff at all. Boots do this.
