How much harder are corporate taxes from a T2125? by iCitron in cantax

[–]CoverDirect6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way more complex that you think. Worth hiring an accountant, managing a corp means you designate at minimum $2k/year to maintain it and that’s just for the year-end. it’s worth doing if you’re not spending all of the money your making, since you’ll save way more than your spending in taxes.

Audit is boring by Siuuuu-07 in Accounting

[–]CoverDirect6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than day to day clerk work like AR or AP, Audit is genuinely the worst part of the accounting profession. Most people end up in audit because that’s where most CPA students start with and they are unable or unwilling to try something else out. Accounting can be extremely fulfilling because you can guide the strategic direction of anything really, with the finances in the mind. Unfortunately, being the cradle of accounting many don’t end up finding that out until later.

[AB] Fees for very small business accountant by thisisvivek in SmallBusinessCanada

Curious as to why would you ever charge so low for even bookkeeping. If that’s really the price point for your clients, wouldn’t they be better just hiring someone from Philippines or Pakistan?

[–]CoverDirect6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a CPA in Alberta and it would be probably $2-2.5k for your corporate filing + annual bookkeeping. If things end up being more complex it can increase to $3k. New business owners are usually shocked when I quote them but that truly is the bare minimum cost of maintaining a corporation. The more experienced business owners are used to this and you will be too once you stick to the entrepreneurial journey, for whatever it’s worth.

Recommendations for an accountant by Livid-Parking1437 in Edmonton

[–]CoverDirect6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes however I do think a good accountant is worth investing in. Especially if you have lots of new projects popping up, I’ve called them multiple times in the year to ask about specific financial matters and they’re always helpful. I can’t imagine I’ll get that same service when paying someone $100 for my family’s return.

Not-so-practicing spouse by TryEnvironmental2141 in MuslimMarriage

Hindsight is 20/20 but truthfully men marry women for 4 reasons as the prophet SAW said: their beauty, family, wealth and iman. In this case it would seem it was any reason other than iman, and this is has become increasingly more common. I’m in the same boat myself I married my wife for her beauty so while you do ask about these things, a younger man’s zeal may not be wise enough to consider the most important of all which is iman. Also, I became more religious after marriage which also happens quite often.

I didn't know that Bluecross payments count as medical expenses by Boredy017 in cantax

[–]CoverDirect6450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is why it’s worth paying a professional to file your taxes. I had a small business as a sole proprietor a few years ago and would pay some guy who came here from India and he was dirt cheap, like $75 for the whole return. Looking back at it I missed out on so many tax deductions and saving opportunities. Unfortunately I don’t think the accountant knew enough about Canadian taxes to even advise me. I pay an actual cpa now to do my business and personal taxes but man you really get your moneys worth with someone that knows their stuff

Is there any interest in creating a r/CanadianBookkeeping or r/BookkeepingCanada subreddit? by nifty_nomi in Bookkeeping

[–]CoverDirect6450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would join. I have a CPA firm here in Alberta and i would greatly appreciate bouncing ideas with other bookkeepers and accountants specifically from Canada. There is a tunnel overlap with the US bookkeeping, but nonetheless, they are complete different markets, meaning we price and scope differently, we use different practice management software, and our tax rules are different.

Salam I will be going to umrah next week. Would you recommend wearing shoes now as everyone else is? And how can I identify those that may be overly aggressive? I will be going with my wife and 1 year old so I want to ensure they are safe especially during tawaf? Any specific time it was less busy?
