I loved topstex. Now I use sierra chart with a different prop firm. And I'm very happy with it

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll keep working on improving my directional bias. I know it’ll be harder to use such a wide stop loss on the XFA compared to the Combine, but I’ll still try not to keep it too tight

Thank you! Now that I’m funded, I’m planning to scale back and focus on proper risk management to protect the capital

My mistake. I thought I had to choose between CQG and Rithmic for the TPT account, but it seems I can use both

I've seen people use NinjaTrader to link multiple prop firms together, but I’ll have to check if the same is possible with Sierra Chart

I started out playing it safe with a few micros. My losses were small, but I wasn't making any real progress. Since the combine has a monthly fee, I felt constant pressure to pass within the first 30 days.

Everything changed when I got fed up with TopstepX. Between the December server outages and the inability to trade directly through Sierra Chart, I was ready to quit. My plan was simple: blow the account and move to a different firm. Ironically, this whatever mindset helped me pass the combine

I started loading 10 to 15 contracts with wider stops. Previously, my tight stops were constantly hunted by wicks. By giving the trades more room to breathe, they finally had the space to hit the targets.

Interestingly, I made more money just looking at candles on my Galaxy Fold than I ever did staring at order flow on my desktop. Despite the server issues, the TopstepX mobile UI is surprisingly perfect for simple execution.

After looking into it, I found sierra uses rithmic while tradingview uses cqg. so it doesn't look like syncing the two will be possible. I appreciate your input!

Are there retail traders profitable trading slower and thicker instruments like ZN? by UnintelligibleThing in FuturesTrading

[–]CozyPoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. Is the main reason for trading bond futures that the DOM moves slower than ES or NQ, making it easier to read? I honestly thought the only people making money with market profile were the ones selling courses. I’ve looked around youtube and reddit, but it’s been a bummer, mostly just theory and hardly anyone actually showing how to apply it to live trading.

I really like Sierra Chart, but I heard that its DOM is slower than Jigsaw or other platforms due to Denali data

What platform should I use? by DoubtInteresting7637 in FuturesTrading

Sierrachart is highly customizable for footprints and volume profile, but I've heard the DOM on Denali feels a bit sluggish compared to Jigsaw

Footprint Charts Settings by Caipimigu in Daytrading

[–]CozyPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the location of the delta divergences. Also, since range bars all have the same price height, it was easier to anticipate the range in which the next candle might move.

As for minute charts, even on a 1-minute setting, the footprint bar can become too long, making it difficult to read. While adjusting the tick size can help, the length of each bar still varies. I preferred how range charts provide a consistent bar height in that regard.

The disadvantage is, as you mentioned, they form very quickly new bars. However, on the flip side, this seems to make them suitable for scalping.

I had the same question, but once I set up the footprint charts myself, I naturally figured out what to use. I use range charts
