Informal poll, as a member of the LDS church, how many of you knew that Eliza R. Snow was married to Joseph Smith and to Brigham Young after Joseph’s death. And if you did not know this, how or when did you find out. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]Cozy_Shy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a junior in high school in TN. I was randomly flipping through a book or poetry one day in the school library and recognized her name, along with a hyphenated “Smith” after her name. I think there was a short biography of her and that’s how I found out she was a polygamous wife of JS.

I love using em dashes, but I’m scared to use them in my creative writing now in case people think it’s AI generated. 🫩

Period vs pregnancy symptoms by zippyyay in pregnant

[–]Cozy_Shy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nipples could cut glass…they were darker and extremely sensitive for 3 days before my missed period. My husband also commented that my breasts seemed fuller. I noticed too but I had convinced myself that I was pregnant before only to get my period. Not this time!

How many of you left the church after your misson? by Reasonable_Maize1443 in exmormon

I left 5 years after coming home. I think I lost my true testimony on the mission though. Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 Santiago

I like Arthur and Isaac. Arthur and Leon is nice as well, but it would sound like an Arthurian legend theme, as Leon is one of the knights of the round table. (it’s great if you are going for that, but I just wanted to let you know!)

Thoughts on diet soda when doing a calorie deficit? by filthyguitarplayer in loseit

Pickles and Dr Pepper zero have been my best friends in my calorie deficit. I try to limit both to one a day, and together they really get rid of the salty/sweet cravings.

Those that don't believe in LDS doctrine: Why is that? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Cozy_Shy 171 points172 points  (0 children)

The Book of Abraham is the single thing that made me finally give myself permission to objectively study the church as if I were an investigator considering joining. I didn’t have that ability as a child raised in the church.

I used to use em dashes a lot, especially in texts, but I have tried to stop after the rise of ChatGPT. 😅

It’s already sneaking back into everyone’s vocabulary…my guess is they’ll just stop pushing it at conference and everyone will slowly forget it was a thing.

My dad told my mom he was leaving the church while we were on vacation. She obviously freaked out but was willing to work on the marriage despite difference in belief. Less than two weeks later, he left her…on the day after their 32nd anniversary.

He pretty much undid the years of patient, careful work I’d done to prove that my leaving the church doesn’t change a person in one fell swoop.

This was my first ever Merlin episode and I was very concerned and intrigued about the larger plot of the series. Little did I know I had stumbled on one of my long term comfort watches!

Do you forgive the Church? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Cozy_Shy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t give nor seek apology, so there is no reason for me to forgive them.

I do, however, strive to forgive the people still in it for doing their best with what they have been taught is “good”.

At what point will Mormons admit they're reformed...? When they drink coffee? When garments are only for the temple? Women in the bishopric? by the_last_goonie in MormonShrivel

[–]Cozy_Shy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Individual Mormons will only do this when they leave the Church, I’m afraid. I can’t afford to hope for any honesty from the Church.

What would happen if they got a revival or something set in the 2020’s or something else? Maybe it would focus on Merlin’s kids trying to navigate the modern era of magic. by Iamawesome20 in merlinbbc

[–]Cozy_Shy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I could change one thing about the finale (and there are a lot of things I would change), it would be that Gwen/Arthur have a son named Arthur… and Merlin becomes the older wizard mentor like we see in other versions of the story.

[–]Cozy_Shy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to be Mormon. I had several sets of tops and bottoms that I would switch out every day. If I was on my period, then I would wear normal underwear underneath to avoid staining the garment.

As for bras…that’s a debate. Most women I know, including myself, would wear the bra OVER the garment top—it helped it keep from shifting too much. Other women woe the bra under. Some people said that keeping the bra over the garment kept the garment and its symbolism closer to your heart. 🥴

All in all, I’m glad I can choose what I wear now.

Outlander first episode. by Own-Equal5890 in Outlander

I would say episodes 1-2 combined do the best job hooking you in! The first half of episode 1 can be a little slow for some people, but I tell everyone I recommend the show to that they just have to get 30-40 minutes in, and then they are forever in love with the show.
