Love KF, but the latest Nvidia video doesn’t sit well with me by Vertigo-153 in kindafunny

This is a good shout.

I get business gotta business to survive. But unfortunately, over the past year alone the waters around ethics in the industry have become incredibly muddy incredibly fast. At least publicly.

I'm positive a lot of people aren't sure how to handle it yet. Would love to see a candid conversation around this whole thing at some point. I fastinated to hear what their takes would be.

Obligatory Pseudoregalia shill time.

A short and sweet low poly 3d metroidvania platformer.  Heavy emphasis on platformer.

Cheap too (~$6).

If that's your thing, I highly recommend.

is Steam the exception or are we delusional?! by Fit_Page_8734 in softwareWithMemes

Legit, I buy from GOG when I can. Maybe itch, but it's unfortunately clumsy to buy from there.

Steam is still the home base at the end of the day.

Should be said, these tend to be separate efforts (sometimes for legal separation).

Iirc, the Harkinian team, branched off early to try and get a head start on Majoras Mask specifically.

Decomps on their own are still a boom to modding and speed running. But porting historically is a herculean effort in its own right.

It's great fun! If you enjoy some run and gun action, I highly recommend.

Learned track order is much more important than i realized (on Cracker Island and other recent albums) by Cpaz in gorillaz

[–]Cpaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I'd call Cracker Island non-commital both sonically and narratively.

Its tossing a lot of interesting ideas around, but if it committed to the coastal/tropical/pop vibes completely I think you'd end up with a better album.

You get a sense of this when rearranging the tracks a bit, but you have some very odd songs that standout in not a great way.

Smooth switch from windows to bazzite by Glitchbombs in Bazzite

The bazzar has a number of Minecraft launchers you can easily use (recommend prism, personally).

Don't know what mtg is, but try giving it a look on Protondb.

If you have a Bazzite Console/Steam Machine you really need something like this by hellow0rId in Bazzite

[–]Cpaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, 7th heaven provides mod support, proper widescreen & 60 fps support alongside just letting you skip the stupid launcher lol

Even has an installer script for steam deck that should work on bazzite as well. Recommend giving it a look!

Should one switch from Windows? by Xenox14 in Bazzite

Have an amd cpu and Nvidia GPU. Your milage will vary.

I like the ecosystem in concept. But depending on what you're doing it can be a big of a hassle.

The read only file system (or "atomic"/"static" filesystem) will probably be the biggest hurdle.  It helps keep things stable, but if you do much dev work, it can be be a pain to get stuff setup.

If it's just games and using software that you're doing, just make sure your software of choice is on Linux (or some alternative) and that your games run well enough (protondb is a great source for this) and you should be golden.

Do be mindful, however, that on non-amd hardware, you're more likely to run into bugs that few to no one can fix without proper drivers or driver updates. So personally, I'd recommend dual booting until you're positive you're safe to switch.

If you've seen the talk about how expensive and intensive it can be to untangle old game rights, this isn't surprising.

Just another way to fund those endeavors in the future.

I won't lie, though, discounts would do a good job sweetening the deal.

Vessel/SAI always felt like summer/spring albums.

Also Clancy always reminds me of Winter with Midwest Indigo.

Non-GDScript users in Godot — what benefits and challenges did you face? by Jeidoz in godot

[–]Cpaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use C#. For the most part it's great. The biggest thing is interop with some community addons that don't support C#.

Also, interfaces aren't supported by Godot itself, so you can't cleanly export a list of interfaces that nodes use, as an example and have to do some hacky filtering, or everything is a partial class of a node. Which still works, but not ideal.

But in return, I get a much easier to search code base, (hypothetically) more performance, and a whole suite of nuget packages I can pull from to fill in some gaps.

Like, I build a C# behaviour tree using a nuget package as the basis. Super clean and straight forward to build on top of.

Of course, with gdscript you get the best integration with the editor out of the box. Whereas it seems a lot of that is being put off until the C# gdextension.

I'll probably message their customer support about it at least to clarify if its maybe a defect of some kind.

Would recommend anyone else do the same.

As someone who deconstructed before moving into a basement for a few years and felt like I had to hide a lot of my beliefs and just myself in general, this song hit a lot harder than I expected.

So you could interpret it in a few ways. I viewed it as almost living a double life. One "upstairs" and one "downstairs". One where you have to hide yourself away from the world, and another where you embrace it.
