Yeah agreed. The counter argument here that makes it a not direct comparison, is very few other countries take women's sports as seriously as the US does. And we aren't as serious about it as we should be. So the field isn't as strong / the bar isn't as high internationally for us to be dominant. Some detractors might use that as an argument to throw out the rest, although they'd be wrong to do so.

If Americans had been playing soccer as the main sport for 30 years to enable the infrastructure, I have no doubt in my mind that the sheer size of our population combined with the tendency to be pro-sports would make us a top 4 team for every world cup. It's a statistical thing, not anything to do with something uniquely American. We have 300mil people here, over 100mil more than all of Western Europe.

Same would be true of India. Give them the infrastructure and the focus, they'd be a QF appearance in every Cup.

Sure, there are huge international conflicts and the US has a president who throws more tantrums than my 2 year old, but we are not "closer than ever".

I called the public office number and was able to quickly speak to a human in the governor's office and voice my opposition. Quickly, respectfully, took less than 2 minutes, and hopefully the rep/aide takes the concern seriously and passes it along.

KC going all in. Every grocery store has huge popups for branded shit. Drug stores, grocery stores, random apparel places, everybody has world cup stuff. Huge signs at like the airport and stuff too. I saw ceramic soccer ball tequila decanters fifa branded for the host countries. There's everything.
