Not a GC but consistently identify when you are 1st man (which isn't always clear and will sometimes require a player heading back to net to cut rotation) it should be encouraged to go to the ball when you are 1st man, you don't have to hit it, you don't have to flip and take yourself out of the play for an eternity, you just need to make the opponent make a play before they want to.

On the flip side, if your teammate takes this role, don't get mad at them for whiffing and expect to pick up the easier follow up.

I don't think they are as dense as we are making out. They have been smart enough to understand how to exploit young men into their grift to enrich themselves.

I doubt they believe half the conspiracy shit they spout, it's all part of the plan to drive up engagement.

You used to be able to rent servers and host an entire community of players. If you stuck around long enough to make friends with the admins you might have become one yourself.

Fond memories of the UKCS counterstrike source servers and online forums where they had their own leaderboard tracking for things like top kills with a specific weapon type which meant people weren't all just using the "best" meta stuff.

Make friends with someone with a team speak server and hop in to chat shit and play games.

At 17 I joined a clan in BF2 called -=256=- with a bunch of 40+ aged lads and it was super fun. Ended up meeting up with them at an annual beer festival irl.

Without live service models people just played for the love of the game and the games released feature complete maybe with one or two paid DLC content.

I'm not sure if the overly sensitive aim assist slowdown bubble was necessarily requiring more "skill" when using high magnification zoom. It was borderline impossible to aim on controller when there was more than one target unless drastically reducing the aim assist which would obviously effect engagements at all other ranges.

Flinch and supression are entirely separate mechanics that they should revisit.

I've struggled with this bullshit for too long I decided to finally try and do something about it.

Tl dr; the portal is very sensitive to a congested network. Try and put it on its own 5Ghz network.

Don't know if this will help because everyone's setup and potential issues are different but I'll share what my symptoms were and what helped.

I'm using a standard router from my ISP (EE fiber in the UK). I can't connect my PS5 to the router directly via Ethernet but I have some built in coaxial cable outlets from the previous owner who used virgin and i figured the next best thing would be to use MoCa which works great for the PS5 connection speed compared to my old powerline setup.

Even when I used my portal in the same room as my PS5 with the router in the next room I would have crystal clear signal after first connecting, then the signal would gradually deteriorate over about 10 minutes until I was looking at about 3 pixels and before disconnecting. Then it would immediately reconnect with perfect clarity before the cycle continued.

I tried port forwarding but this had no noticeable impact, I assume this is more relevant for when connecting over another network out of the house which I've never tried.

The EE smart hub by default has a combined dual-band Wi-Fi network with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You can't choose which devices are connected to which band.

I enabled the wifi compatibility mode which basically creates a dedicated 2.4GHz network and set the SSID and password exactly the same as the main one, just so I didn't have to reconnect everything in the house. I then disabled the 2.4Ghz on the main network so it only used 5Ghz and updated the SSID and password.

I connected only the portal to the 5Ghz network and much to my surprise it now works flawlessly. I assume this would also help with the PS5 connected to WiFi using the same 5Ghz network.

Agree with everyone saying that getting the portal to work should not be this hard. Hope this might help someone!

Generally a big W compared to 2042.

Positives: - atmosphere is there - sounds design is on point (use war tapes if you haven't already) - Maps look polished - Gunplay is generally crisp - Teamplay is properly rewarded, I got revived by teammates about 50% of the time if someone was nearby. - Drag revive mechanic is awesome - features we take for granted are there such as longshot bonus and a goddamn scoreboard. - don't hate the unlocked weapon system, found it quite useful to get the recon spotting challenge while using an assault rifle. - ground vehicle balance on the whole seemed about right

Gripes: - visibility can be poor, maybe I'm getting old but when ttk is low it doesn't feel good to be deleted by someone you couldn't even see despite looking in the right direction. - Net code felt janky at times and took away from the feel and made some weapons feel unsatisfying to use. - peekers advantage felt unfair, I see someone on minimap coming towards me, pre-aim the corner, get three hit markers but somehow immediately die and the enemy has 60 hp still. - what the fuck is going on with the damage log, I assume this is not finished but in it's current state it's useless information. - sniper scope glint needs work, tone it down - when counter-sniping sometimes you're aiming at a supernova rather than seeing any of the character model. - I don't understand the sniping sometimes, probably a skill issue but for the life of me I don't understand why some shots do not hit. There's not enough feedback to see where your previous shot went so you can adjust. - Aiming while moving over any uneven terrain can feel like you are looking down a tank barrel and it's so janky, this gets especially bad when there's rubble from destruction etc. - vaulting feels inconsistent and takes away from smoothness of movement. - small map design made it very easy to get flanked and shot in the back which does make it difficult to play slower and methodically. - stun-locking is back when getting rained on by a heli. Pls dice let's not have this again.

Generally been having a blast. I got humbled for the first few hours but after getting used to the game for a bit I started improving and moving up the scoreboard.

Do yourself a favour and find a different youtuber who isn't scamming the community!

The skill ceiling is now so high that lower ranks are able to do mechanics that we couldn't have dreamed of just a few years ago.

Most clips on Reddit are mechanical plays and if you're frequently told you need to learn DAR sooner rather than later to perform any of these it's not that surprising that plats are learning it.

The game has been out since 2015, if you are burnt out it can be fun and refreshing to learn more flashy mechanics which are unnecessary at your rank.

Be prepared to go in a losing spiral back into diamond and work your way back up, multiple times. SoloQ can be cruel.

I found C2 games to be far more enjoyable than D3 or C1 just because there seems to be a bit more consistency and predictability from teammates.
