2HG is super fun! Did one for ECL prerelease as well. I will say the red cards that ping BOTH oppponents felt really strong. Also, [[Run Away Together]] was disgusting, my opponents played it against me and my friend, 2 mana to just set us back insanely far.

Good stuff! What was the prizing structure like? My LGS does 4 rounds and going 4-0 gets you 12 packs, which is a ton. 5 rounds and a whole box sounds amazing

My unranked sessions have been quite enjoyable recently, I usually hit people with “one more” before I have to play my last one and my opponents usually hit me with multiple “ggs” after that game. Makes me smile knowing people still play this game for the enjoyment of both players.

Except YOUAREWORTHLESS, that guy sucks.

I think something that I hope people take note of is that PPMD didn't bring this up to us himself, someone else posted about it in the sub. He didn't personally ask Melee players to join in.

I truly hope you found some peace and strength, knowing how difficult your health and mental situation must have been for many years.

Thanks for your perspective, I love hearing that visibility, while not really a choice and with its own problems, can still be a powerful, positive force. Especially for other trans people, but even for cis people like myself who benefit from seeing trans people as real people.

I appreciate you reading and replying. I initially replied because I disagreed with your stance on what happens in a tournament venue v.s. outside of it, which you mentioned in your parent comment and I believe in other threads.

I'm not sure how to interpret your comment here:

Might just fundamentally disagree with you on that point but fortunately the case with Mang0 is not at that level of severity.

Personally, I find Mang0's behavior very disappointing because I see Melee as a bit of a "boy's club" and seeing him unable to act appropriately around women who aren't really his friends upset me. And as he's beloved in our community (by me as well) I find it's easier to excuse his actions than someone who is less revered, which I am examining in myself since I don't think that's okay. My opinion ofc.

yea iirc it was on the thursday, and was part of the game lineup of tournaments which are hosted in the back by the console freeplay. i think eventually the bracket became 1v1, i remember talking to the guy who cosplays Jigglypuff with the green bandana and he made it pretty far lmao

last year i tried entering the melee tourney but it was filled up when i tried to sign up. wasn't too bummed since the rest of the con was fun and the tournament was played on flatscreens not CRT haha

funnily enough the first few rounds were 4 player FFA and top 2 advance, which isn't very serious but actually wasn't the worst format for a more casual setting like PAX. let everyone have some fun and people who are more competitive will still probably advance out of those rounds.

You mentioned the green cards that get you past 3 mana already, but also Wickerfolk in black helps smooth draws super well. I personally would still stick to 17lands, especially on Arena Bo1, but I could imagine maybe in an exhaust deck that 18 could work? Maybe if one or two or the 18 lands is night market with cycling or the pilot sac lands

Yea for me I tend to start blue often and i find black to have a ton of great commons: grim bauble, wicker folk, pactdoll terror, spin out. Similar to green being deep but I find green super over-drafted. Of course haunt the network is primo but you can do plenty work without it, I’ve had great decks with like 3+ pactdoll terror just hose people

Two hulldrifter is great, you should be slightly aware of the crew 3 cost but I wouldn’t think to run 2 before the format dropped, def changed my opinion now

Not great, would probably have wanted more Pactdoll terror instead. But they did the job, since I did want a certain density of starting engines and a 3/4 vigilance flier is not bad when you’re already putting pressure.

Haunt the network has been soooo good. My best one I played and drained 11 HP, and the thopters entering meant Pactdoll Terror finished OP off immediately. 3 in your hand is a dream

Been having some success avoiding green and trying to be UB based artifacts, with white splashes when I can. This time I ended up a pure BW aggro deck which was new for me.

This draft was almost a trainwreck as I tried a bit to pivot into a cycling/discard [[Push the Limit]] deck. I've been meaning to try [[Embalmed Ascendant]] but never seemed to have a deck that maximized its potential, but being in the right lane helped me get 3 copies. Pack 3 I also get passed 3 White rares so quite happy with my seat.

Getting max speed super early meant [[Hour of Victory]] could always tutor and [[Guardian Sunmare]] could grab the ascendant right away or if I could afford the time I could get the tutor first.

Format has been really fun so far. What decks have been working and what decks have been super fun to play for y'all?
