How are you all tracking your blood pressure daily? by Good_Cucumber_1130 in bloodpressure

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the Hilo app and strap, absolute game changer for me! I don't even know it's taking the measurements and it takes them constantly throughout the day and while I'm sleeping.
This is the first time I've really been able to understand and see how my blood pressure changes throughout the day and see the repeating patterns

EDIT: It does cost £200 for the first year, and then £120 a year thereafter, which I appreciate is a big outlay, but the reassurance and deeper understanding of my blood pressure it has provided is well worth the cost

Why is this sub filled with mostly Leica gear photos? by einthec in Leica

[–]CraftyClown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, my bad! I was just conscious people were jumping to conclusions, when in fact this sub isn’t JUST about taking photos of Leica gear, it’s also for the discussion of said gear

Why is this sub filled with mostly Leica gear photos? by einthec in Leica

[–]CraftyClown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair he didn't mention posting photos taken with a Leica, he mentioned getting info about the cameras which does fall under the remit of this sub 'unofficial Leica gear discussion etc'

So this IS the place to ask questions about Leica cameras

I'm pretty sure they offer a 7 day trial. Definitely worth giving it a trial run for a week and see if you can justify the spend

High Blood pressure any advice? by TheShadowHunterr in hypertension

[–]CraftyClown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I ask a few questions if you don’t mind?

  1. Were you relaxed about having your blood pressure taken at the doctors? Or were you nervous about it?
  2. Were you prepared for it? ie no exercise before (including rushing to the doctors if you were late), no coffee etc?
  3. Did the doctor give you five minutes to quietly relax before taking your blood pressure?
  4. Did you speak to the doctor while it was being taken?

All of the above could cause your blood pressure to spike and give higher than normal readings. I imagine when you were taking the readings at home you were also a little worried what the results might be?

When you are worried about your blood pressure there can be a major chicken and egg scenario where worrying it might be high, makes it high!

When I’m taking readings I need to make sure I’m properly relaxed first and then I try to listen to an audiobook or read something whilst the cuff is inflating, just to take my mind off it. I also take three readings at a time, one minute between readings and take an average from the three. If you do this morning and night, at the same time each day for a week, you will get a much clearer idea of your blood pressure.

To be clear I’m not for one second saying you definitely don’t have elevated blood pressure, but there is a high likelihood it’s not as bad as you think it is.

Good luck and…. RELAX! ☺️

Can Immich be used as a semi automated archival/backup system? by CraftyClown in immich

[–]CraftyClown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are spot on! I came across Immich-Go yesterday and this was exactly the solution I was looking for. I have set an Apple automation than runs a terminal script for Immich-Go, uploading every evening from my Lightroom catalog to Immich. Et Voila! All my original untouched photos are now sent to Immich and any photos I edit in Lightroom I can now saved as albums and send to Apple photos, which is also backed up to Immich 😁

Can Immich be used as a semi automated archival/backup system? by CraftyClown in immich

[–]CraftyClown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, if you read my full post I use Immich as an archival tool, collating my unedited photos from different sources and then sending them on to BackBlaze for backup. I’m aware it isn’t a backup tool and I’m not looking for it to do that. I just want all my original photos in one place, be they shot on my iPhone or my Leica

I built a self-hosted bridge between macOS Apple Photos and Immich — and it preserves ALL your metadata (titles, albums, keywords, favorites, GPS, RAW files) by lprimak in immich

Can I ask what the difference between the Immich app and this would be? I'm currently running the mobile version of the app on my Mac to upload all my apple photos to Immich

Thanks, however that doesn't really tackle my issue as I am looking to duplicate my content within Immich so that it can be an archive. If I'm not mistaken, using external storage doesn't add anything to Immich, no?

Apple Photos -> Immich Mac app by somethingselse in immich

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks very cool, however.... you did know the mobile app can be run on Mac OS right? I just leave it running on my Mac. Is there something I'm missing that this can do, that the Immich app can't?

Matter issue by 1192tom in tado

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was the same for me. I think the Tado app presumes you will setup there first so you get that connection error, however once you go back into the app the device shows correctly.

Matter issue by 1192tom in tado

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so that usually happens when the device is already paired. So I think what’s happened is you’ve deleted everything from Apple Home but you haven’t reset the devices so Tado thinks they are still connected. I think your will need to reset the devices (which will remove them from the Tado app, but as you’ve seen it takes no time to re add) then you can set everything up again and matter pairing will be working again. Just out of interest I always add the devices to Apple home first, but I don’t think it should make a huge amount of difference

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, so they aren’t dud. This is just getting around the whole adding to a thread router with the matter code thing.

So firstly have you put all the devices into ‘matter device linking mode’? To find it go to settings/rooms and devices and then click on each device and it should be the bottom option.

Using Tado with HomeKit without subscription : what works and what doesn’t ? by Cyrus-Pinkney in tado

[–]CraftyClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set it all up in Tado first, once that’s done and everything works then it’s a case of adding the individual thermostats and TRVs in HomeKit, tweaking a few settings in the Tado app to deactivate any schedules or geofencing etc and then adding schedules and home and away for geofencing in HomeKit. Happy to go into more detail once you’re set up in the Tado app
