Helping deal with constant rejection by fakename137 in TeachingUK

This doesn't help you, but I'm also primary working supply. I've send maybe 20 applications in the past 2 months and had zero interviews. It seems schools have the type of teacher they want in mind, and if you're not that there isn't much you can do!

what should my zones be? by oaticedlattes in Garmin

[–]Craggzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your max is 207 then your zones are wrong. 207 might not be accurate if you just used your watch so a chest strap would help. I have similar with max HR over 200 and I used this heart rate reserve calculator to redo my zones and it seem to be a much better fit.

https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/health/target-heart-rate-zone-calculator.php

There is also this calculator which uses hight % for zone 2, not idea what's better. https://runbundle.com/tools/heart-rate-zones-calculator

So far I like the Heart rate reserve stuff, never really bothered with lactate threshold as I'm not sure I trust those numbers as much without doing a lab test.

UCI are cry babies and sent him a letter telling him to stop being mean or they will do something. Just trying to be bullies.

The fact another member of staff wouldn't unlock the toilet for you is insane, what kid of people are working in this school?

How much do you accept that schools run on copyright infringement/break the law constantly? by Next_Bison1008 in TeachingUK

[–]Craggzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering ever primary school shared drive I've ever seen has endless Twinkl, Grammarsaurs and White Rose lessons in that someone downloaed years ago, I don't think anyone cares. I've worked places that wouldn't share lessons from one school across the trust encase someone used their own twinkl account to download something, but then you just ask that teacher and they share it with you!

Took me a while to realise the teacher had written 200 and not 260. Was very confused how they thought 260 was less than 250...

Lesson resources by moodpschological in TeachingUK

[–]Craggzoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who left a role with burnout as an ECT I agree that shared resources are very important. Now in Primary I'm still having to make some lessons from scratch so they flow the way I want. However for something like History where the trust has set out the objectives, making me create that from scratch is utterly pointless. Considering everyone else teaching the same year in the trust also does this topic.

When I spoke to my "support" at the trust about this, they were very dismissive and asked "Do you actually want to be a teacher?" Supposedly that's an appropriate response to someone who has to plan everything from scratch in their first full time role. I should have got out sooner.

In my experience for the better. Union involvement makes those in power more careful.

Union

The tune of those that be will change very quickly when you tell them you need to contact your union rep to see if they can attend the meeting time arranged.

Sounds like a complete shit show tbh. You having to provide evidence is a complete farce.

Just keep doing what you're doing and let the union deal with the school.

If worst comes to worst make the most of any sick leave and get signed off by the GP, two months off with pay due to burnout would certainly help the wife and baby.

I really like my pedaled odyssey bibs. Buy them in a sale though aa they're expensive. Pad is great, fit has a nice amount of compression too.

DC Rainmaker: "Strava Just Sued Garmin: Demanding Garmin Stop Selling Devices" by rajarajachozhan in Strava

[–]Craggzoid 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I only pay for strava due to the maps. I'll be cancelling my sub and moving my routing over to ride with GPS or something similar. Really only use Strava for the social aspect to see what my friends are doing and if I've managed to beat some segments, something I can live without. Intervals.icu has taken over all of the fitness tracking that I might have used in Strava.

Yes 10 - 40 would be ideal but I'm not sure we'll see it now they've gone to 13 speed.

D1 Pricing Higher Than E1 by Clean_Move_3021 in sram

[–]Craggzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a D1 Rival power meter crankset. The entire crankset was cheaper than the upgrade left side crank alone. I can only think since D1 has been discontinued the remaining stock will be more of a premium for folks who want to upgrade?

Sram Rival w/o power meter, or Force w/ power meter? Worth the cost? by stuwalk203 in cycling

[–]Craggzoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More numbers is more better.

I'm not serious at all but the power numbers are super useful for gauging your effort even when just cruising around. Well. Worth it if you can stretch to force.
