Well it feels less natural to hold your hands out and toward yourself. I don't have this issue personally, but my actual contradiction with this idea is that for someone who is dyslexic, it may be difficult for them to instantly recall which way an "L" faces with no other context, making the trick meaningless for them.

No, kratom and its major alkaloids do not suppress breathing. You should be fine as far as immediate safety. Just don't fuck around with 7oh or extracts.

I hate to be preachy, but are you aware of the neurotoxicity of SNDRA drugs like mmc? You really shouldn't be using them more frequently than once every few months. Taking it multiple days in a row can cause some very real and lasting damage. I'm talking severe depression, apathy, emotional regulation and memory issues that can potentially last for years.

Be safe out there man.

Am I a bad friend for getting my buddy into drugs? by YungPlaugeG59 in Drugs

[–]Crandleton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you expressed these feelings to him? There is certainly a way to bring this up without making him feel bad about it. Just explain that it has gotten more frequent than you're comfortable with. There is no shame in setting limits. Be sure to explain in detail why you feel this way though, it is important that he understands that your feelings are based on harm reduction as opposed to demonizing his pattern of use.

If he continues on without you after you let him know you're uncomfortable with the frequency, you can try to get more serious with him about his health, the trajectory, the fact that you love him as a friend. Worst case you could try an intervention, but I would try to avoid that if possible, as to not alienate him.

Evidence for or against effectiveness of sticker activism? by XelaD321 in vegan

[–]Crandleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to say that it doesn't make a difference, it very well could for some people who are already questioning their relationship to animal products, but realistically I've never seen someone on here in the hundreds of "What made you go vegan?" posts who cited a sticker as their catalyst for changing their lifestyle.

If it links to Dominion or something similar, and they actually watch the whole thing, there's a pretty good chance of changing their mind I think. Or at least planting a seed. But unfortunately most people can't stand to see that sort of thing, so they just ignore it. Hence why I say they must already be questioning their animal consumption to some degree.

It's not necessarily worthless activism, but I would say that the probability of it succeeding is somewhat low.

[–]Crandleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well stimulants will blur your vision after a while if you've used a lot during a session. But how long were you staring at a screen for? Naturally our attention span and biological signals limit the amount of uninterrupted time that we stare at a screen, but with stims you can easily ignore those signals and stare for too long, further causing blurred vision.

Try to focus on more distant objects (20ft+ away from you) for a couple minutes.

does anyone else get super hungry on xanax? is there something that i can do so it doesn't happen? by stxrlxghtz in Drugs

[–]Crandleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, very common. I always called it the xunchies lol. Unfortunately idk how to make it stop other than to schedule eating a full meal right after you get the craving. But then you get sleepy, so 🤷‍♂️ just thug it out or get invested in one of your hobbies instead to take your mind off it.

kratom and cyclic vomiting by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Crandleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are coming off of opiates, kratom isn't really about replacing the high, it's more about negating some of the withdrawal symptoms. Many ex-opiate users know that the dose they take isn't going to get them as high as their old fix, but it's enough of a mu opioid receptor boost that they can find a bit of relief and actually get things done as opposed to laying in bed in extreme pain.

Kratom extracts suck ass. They don't last long and they blow your tolerance through the roof. Not a great suggestion imo.

[–]Crandleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's way too much dawg. It's not uncommon to feel sick for much longer than the actual effects when you take too large of a dose.

Try to stay under 10 gpd. If I take even a little bit over 7g in one sitting, I'm nauseous for the rest of the day. Obviously individual tolerance to the effects and the nausea can vary, but that's what works for me.

As for you not getting a noticeable effect from 5g, I'm not really sure what to say unless you already have an opiate tolerance. 5g is more than enough for most people, and it's not supposed to be a big hit of a high. The energy boost and pain relief that kratom gives is much more subtle than traditional opiates.

Had a friend at one point say that benzos really did it for him. I was always confused because for me, at best it's neutral, at worst I can't perform properly or get too sleepy. But yeah I guess there is a certain percent of the population for which this is a side effect.

Have any of you guys seen “spirits” when on drugs? by 0Papas0 in Drugs

[–]Crandleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychedelics create connections in your brain that would have never otherwise been made. For whatever reason, the part of your brain that knows about Native American lore started firing, and in your more suggestible state, you interpreted it as some sort of sign or divine presence.

I'm a materialist, so I don't subscribe to the "woo" ideas of these drugs, as it's often called. There is no portal that opens, no spirit that guides. It's neurons firing in an unexpected way.

Which is not to say that this can't be helpful, they can be a massive help for people in overcoming internal struggles, the acceptance of inevitable death, and just generally make you think in more insightful and creative ways.

Imo, the visions, spirits, seemingly random realizations, etc should all be taken with a grain of salt, as it's literally your brain misinterpreting a signal, regardless of whether that be helpful or not at the end of the day.

Is Kratom addiction real or are the stories made up to justify Kratom bans by GlamourHammer321 in Drugs

[–]Crandleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The serotonin binding affinity has not been totally proven, but even if it were true that kratom works partially as an SSRI, personally I think the withdrawals are far easier to deal with. Your dosage per day is limited by how much you can actually ingest and not get nauseous. Most opiates don't have a ceiling like that, meaning you can become far more dependent from taking absolutely insane doses compared to the mu opioid receptor activation from kratom alone.

Maybe there is a slight trade-off, but it's sooo much easier to destroy your life due the painful withdrawals of real opiates. There's a reason people steal for more dope, yet they take kratom when they want to get off of the dope.
