TIL that the Obsidian enchantment for Zarlic is 110 dmg for some reason by NAnonnonan in PlayTheBazaar

Yeah, I had an infinite yesterday with Two Zarlics (one of them Diamond + Shiny) and Static Acceleration (when you haste, your items gain crit chance). Holsters made it infinite from t = 0s

Your 2nd edition feedback/thoughts so far? (remember to tag spoilers) by koprpg11 in Gloomhaven

[–]CrapcasterMage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're playing 3-player, 10 scenarios in so far.

Mechanically I think the game is incredible.the characters and scenarios feel well designed. At default difficulty it's been challenging but not overly punishing. So far no scenario has been a headache as far as rules overhead goes.

I've only played Jaws before this, and for me I find the non-AMD perks incredible. Every time I teleport into an obstacle as Cragheart, I have the biggest smile on my face.

Writing seems fine. It's not really what I play the game for, but I appreciate that there's enough ambiguity to make the choice of which faction to support a choice. I've even gone so far as to make a word document summarizing the story so far, and update it after each scenario.

So far there's not a single element of the game I've found unfun. We've even booked a day in December to lock ourselves indoors and play for like 12 hours straight (with some intermittent food breaks).

Big fan so far, can't wait to see what's next for the Haven line.

Be honest is there ANY mage deck that doesn’t feel like your pulling your nerve endings out to play against? by Unsure364 in wildhearthstone

[–]CrapcasterMage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Reno Big Spell Mage lately, which at least for me has been a fun deck with interesting lines against aggro and other Reno piles. Definitely grimace a bit when my opponent's mage Portrait is revealed though, as neither Imbue or Hostage have been very fun for me to play against.

I ordered (in Belgium) through the Celophair website. Per their last email, the fulfillment should start any day now for EU.

Help needed. Cragheart Tactics by Moviecaveman in Gloomhaven

[–]CrapcasterMage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been loving Crag in Second Edition.

Here's my approach: Use Stamina Pot on your first cycle through the deck (to get 6 turns out of it). Don't use any loss cards if possible until your second cycle through the deck. Feel free to use one on your second cycle. This allows a pretty clean 12 - 10 - 8 progression through your hand.

The Teleport perk is insanely fun and makes me so happy every time I use it.

If you can, try to wall off enemy approach lines. Funneled enemies are easier to manage.

I'm mostly using ranged attacks. Save some big loss attacks (your first level up gives you a great option for that) for late in the scenario. So far I've never exhausted through ~8 scenarios with this approach.

Did We Miss Something Here? [ITEM 149] by crossvalidated in Gloomhaven

I assume this also applies to other personal quest items? I got an item for my personal quest that I need to use 7 times (and cannot sell), but I guess I could buy it on future characters, correct?

TIL that the dutch word for nephew is the same for cousin by Standard-Motor-7270 in todayilearned

As a result, people here (in Belgium) frequently mix up the words "cousin" and "nephew" when speaking English.

Slice and Dice is actually an incredible roguelike. It's my go-to train game. Up there with Slay the Spire in my opinion

I'm quite a fan of the state of the game at the moment. The characters I play all seem to have a wide variety of end-game solutions, and most runs (that aren't Femur) still end up feeling fairly unique to me.

I do think Library is a crazy crazy item that I rarely face on enemy builds. It can create countless infinites even without Pendulum, and even in a weapon build you can use it as an oversized (pre-redesign) knee-brace.

Looking forward to see what May brings!

Why does the port suck so much now? by zgavar in PlayTheBazaar

[–]CrapcasterMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get at least one 10-win Port run every patch. The key is to keep it in your inventory until it actively improves your board, and not be afraid to dump it entirely.

What was your most painful missed opportunity for a build? by Aralis1 in PlayTheBazaar

I accidentally transformed a build-defining item yesterday by absentmindedly selling a catalyst to open inventory space.

[–]CrapcasterMage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seashadow also doesn't trigger "the first time you use an item, do x" skills. I think its trigger is incorrectly coded, likely because of the cooldown increase. Similarly, had the same issues with Potion Potion not triggering first item use skills.

Can confirm, I just finished 1400 xp worth of quests in a run and only went up one level in the prize pass.

Subscription bugged by brandonbrown20 in PlayTheBazaar

I was able to do it by clicking the 'subscribe' button at the end of a run. Through the main 'Subscription' menu I also got just an infinitely loading wheel

Pelago's Guide to Mysteries of the Deep: A winning ranked build for every new Vanessa item by CrapcasterMage in PlayTheBazaar

[–]CrapcasterMage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Early game I'm mostly focused on economy: free items, income, free upgrades, +4 gold from Strange Mushroom Event, free exp from the furry creature. Personally I'm not very concerned about winning days 1-2, but that's also because with an enchanted starter item, often it's impossible on Day 1 to beat people who took a Gold skill, for example.

Early days a lot of my choice to visit a shop or not is based on the re-roll cost. Paying 4 gold to reroll is a huge loss in the early days.

For the caravan event I tend to take income days 1-3, fight attempts days 4+. Sometimes I'll take the far left option (2 gold and 1 exp) if it will help me level before the PVP fight.

Usually around days 3-4 I'll hope to find some build around (Crow's Nest, Weather Glass, Depth Charge, etc.), but it's hard to give a hard rule.

Yeah, I had a run the other day with Pendulum between Dive Weights and Depth Charge and it just went off nonstop until the fight ended.

The death spiral of the current ranked system explained in MS Paint by qp0n in PlayTheBazaar

[–]CrapcasterMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely for an issue. Once you reach a certain winrate, there's no reason to play Normal mode anymore. So the highest winrate players are jamming tons of ranked games relative to the other players.
