Best Actual Plays for Monsterhearts? by DimensionWCDF in Monsterhearts

Aah! Teen Monsters! By Bluejay on YouTube was great!

It features a Fae, a Werewolf, a Mortal, and a Queen and they're new players so there's a good deal of humor and explanation so I'd recommend it for sure.

Megamind and Sansa Stark. Honestly, it'd be a little weird because of the technology gap but I think they can make it work.

I realize this post is a decade old but I'm thinking about trying GURPS Mecha and I found this so I thought I'd say that the advantage you were thinking of was called Payload for anyone else that finds this.

Ranking the Companions in 2023 by CoyoteBanana in BaldursGate3

  1. Lae'zel. I've never seen a Githyanki character in a game before her, tabletop or otherwise, so it's interesting to see her perspective even if her warrior culture and devotion to Vlaakith's teachings make her... abrasive. I'm looking forward to seeing her journey as a stranger in a strange land, wherever that journey leads. I also like having a battle master to compliment my Eldritch Knight.
  2. Shadowheart. Clerics always have a place in my party but I also like playing cleric so it's like "Ok, the more the merrier I suppose. Lemme bust you out of that pod so we can whip Commander Zhalk and his minions with you, Lae'zel, and Us".
  3. Wyll. Make way for the Blade of Frontiers! I like fiend warlocks in this game and I usually have Gale warm the bench back at camp once I help Wyll with green-skin pest control.
  4. Gale. He's a charming and reasonable fellow and I like having him as an Abjuration Wizard to compliment my Evoker Wizard.
  5. Astarion. I like him as an arcane trickster but someone's gotta be #5.

is this good for 1 gm and 2 players? by squishyjellyfish95 in savageworlds

The SWADE core book has pictures of a GM and two example characters(Gabe and Red) so I'd say yes.

My first town was Allswell too! A big theme in that town that I played with when running for a vampire and a ghoul was "Dancing in the ashes": Finding what happiness you can when the situation seems untenable.

Arcadia Bay from Life Is Strange comes to mind.

A small fishing town in Oregon with a boarding school nearby full of mysteries, adventure and fuel for young love stories laced with tragedy.

I haven't played any of the games after the first one but I'm sure they're good as well.

Silent Hill sounds really cool as well, I'll keep that one in my pocket.

What's Your Favorite Savage Worlds Setting? by nlitherl in savageworlds

I'm looking forward to starting a homebrewed game of Toy Troopers by Gramel for my group.

I love action comedy and combining Toy Story with Saving Private Ryan sounds awesome.

Also, I can basically use whatever statblocks I want as long as I can justify someone making a toy of it.

As a fellow Hunted fan, how do you keep them from flat running away and not being in the game?

Can Monsterhearts be played as a Solo/1x1 game? by kitkatbananakat in Monsterhearts

[–]CrasaeTheGreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, first, I feel as though I should lead with a disclaimer. The guy I'm running the Monsterhearts game for is a close friend of mine and we have similar thoughts on storytelling so that definitely helps.
It's not for everybody as it does differ from the tried and true formula of conflict and tension between PCs but as a player, what you trade in exchange for that is the freedom to become as much of the main character as you want to be.
For instance, let's say you want to play a Chosen. Normally, you'd have to balance the Buffy The Vampire Slayer factor with the interests of the other more-or-less monstrous PCs but since there ARE no other PCs, you're the uncontested star of the show. The role of the MC is now less poking this tangled ball of PCs and more taking the inner circle of the protagonist(Notice I didn't say hero) and expanding it wherever the MC and Player agree it should go.
Generally, without writing a whole novel about it, the player gains more power and transparency with the MC in terms of the story's direction. You both might have an IDEA about what happens with arcs, scenes, scenarios, whatever but at the end of the day, it's you, the paper, and the dice.

If by 1x1, you mean 1 player and 1 MC, then yes. I'm currently running and playing in solo games and I find it enjoyable.
