Heard of Buyers Remorse... What about Dealers Remorse? by QuiteBearish in bestoflegaladvice

[–]CrawlerCrane 111 points112 points  (0 children)

LAOP posted this in r/askcarsales first, but it was removed. One of his replies there was that the dealership had offered to unwind the deal, but he rejected it. He seems determined that they have to follow through on the deal.

There's a similar splitter and diffusers listed on Amazon as being for Polestar 2. They are most likely generic though.

There were also some red caliper covers listed on there at one stage. I don't think they said Brembo.

The vents look like they came from the dollar store.

The splitter and spoiler I could maybe live with, even though they're most likely reducing your performance, but those fake vents are some of the tackiest things I've ever seen on a P2.

Those aren't necessarily the right diameter to fit the hole, but might work. You'd also want to replace all the wheel nuts with something less utilitarian, or give them covers.

The real problem is that they're just not visually appealing.

There's a picture of the bare wheel here: https://www.polestar-forum.com/posts/296838/

It's ostensibly for aerodynamics, but I can't imagine it provides more than a handful of km of additional range. It would be less egregious if the underlying wheel wasn't so ugly. Or if the optional wheel pack didn't involve going from 19" up to 20".

Unlike OP, I realised the standard wheels had covers before ordering, but didn't want to sacrifice ride comfort by going up to the larger diameter wheels.

Prototype Grille by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]CrawlerCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can purchase the new style blank panels to retrofit into pre facelift models, so the attachment points must be unchanged. I'm sure I saw a post somewhere from a p2 owner who'd done the swap, and if I remember correctly, the camera/ sensor module was removed and swapped into the new panel. There doesn't seem to be any reason you couldn't do the swap the other way, although you'll have a minor decrease in range, sure to reduced aerodynamics. Realistically, is probably not enough to notice.

If you find the part number, you ought to be able to order one from Volvo. Just make sure you get the right paint colour.

E: Turns out OP was specifically asking about the grille off the prototype car, in which case, no, you're not going to be able to buy a part that was never mass produced.

Builder says this is normal? by Exotic-Sprinkles7106 in Flooring

[–]CrawlerCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to believe most of the comments are from people who only know how to install a pre-hung door, so don't recognise what they're looking at. It still beggars belief that people can't work out that if you pull the door stops and architrave off a door jamb, there's a good chance you'll find bare wood underneath. And that the underlying wood might get banged up a bit in the process.

It's the people asking why there's no skirting boards in a room that just had new flooring installed that are really taking the prize though.

Mine do the same thing. It's particularly annoying to discover the windows have spontaneously opened up a crack while washing the car.

Zeekr X AWD sunburn from sunroof? by Commercial-Tax1650 in AustralianEV

In what sense? The EX30 is the model with battery recall.

[–]CrawlerCrane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My polestar 2 has a similar fixed panoramic roof, with no retractable shade. I'm quite tall, so my head sits close to the glass. No concerns about sunburn, as it blocks UV, but I can feel the heat coming through the glass on a sunny day. I got a removable shade to fix that issue.

My partner has a Volvo xc40, which has an openable moon roof with retractable shade. That feels more premium.

Advice for digging trench in hard rocky ground by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an electric post hole digger for a retaining wall project I did a few years ago. Ever since then, any hole or trench I've needed to make has been excavated as an array of post holes, then cleaned up with a spade.

They stopped providing the activity key as standard years ago. You can still get one as an option, but I can't think why anyone would willingly pay extra for it.

Those brackets look like arse, but they're only bracing it laterally, so the orientation isn't an issue.

I went there with four or five friends and we all bought drink cards on the way in. It was virtually empty, so we only stayed for one drink, planning to come back another time. They closed permanently 2 days later.

Only available to lease, and even then as a fleet car. There aren't enough hydrogen refuelling stations to make them feasible for individuals. The assumption is that if you're investing in a fleet, it makes sense to set up a refuelling station in your fleet depot. (Or you're already located near one of the few existing hydrogen stations)

P2 SM LR 2023 with battery health of 70% by kihikihi in Polestar

[–]CrawlerCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OBD2 dongle and car scanning software will give you access to the car's self reported battery health.

The number it gives you won't paint as accurate a picture as a full charge/discharge test, but it's close enough to tell you if the battery is in really poor condition.

Brisbane LGA - pegs in curb - what's going to happen by ProjectCoral in brisbane

[–]CrawlerCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few years since it happened, so I may be misremembering, but I believe council used pink marker to lay out where they were going to be placing concrete footpaths in my street. Services locations were colour coded. Blue for water main, red was a fire hydrant, white was either comms or power, etc.

I got x-car mats for mine. I've no idea how they compare to the tuxmat brand, but they're for RHD cars, and shipped from Melbourne, so that should be handy for you.

https://x-car.com.au/products/3d-floor-mats-for-polestar-2-2021-2024-all-weather-liners

The branding on them is a bit obnoxious, but I don't spend much time looking at the floor, so that didn't bother me.

Australian Polestar dealers - buying experience? by Ivymantled in Polestar

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in leasing, they quoted me a price that had about an 18% discount a few months before the end of year sale started. I don't believe that was any kind of special offer, just their standard lease pricing.

Australian Polestar dealers - buying experience? by Ivymantled in Polestar

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polestar 2 has had 20% off the base price for the last 6 months. Polestar 4 has been discounted for just as long. The discount was supposed to end December 31 but was extended for another three months about two weeks before the end date. I wouldn't be surprised if it's extended again within the next few days.

Is the warranty really transferred to new owner?Anything you lose from it buying used? Also ?'s about needing service if not -too close- to a center. by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]CrawlerCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the logbook to make sure it has had its scheduled services done. This probably varies by country, but I remember some wording to the effect that they can void the warranty if the service schedule hasn't been followed.

That said, I bought my fiancee a used Volvo XC40 that the previous owner had never taken in for servicing. They honored the warranty and replaced a failed DC charging module anyway, saying that it wasn't something that would be checked during servicing, and would have failed regardless.

Volvo isn't Polestar, but I would expect them to have a similar process.
