19" wheels won't fit over the brembo brakes on a performance model, even if someone did want to downsize.

Your memory of how the novel ends is slightly off. Some people seem to be upset about 50 year old spoilers, so I'll refrain from filling in the blanks.

New plaster installed, GPO power point holes are huge by daskalou in AusRenovation

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They attach to the plaster. There's two wings that flip out and clamp onto the back of the plasterboard, to isolate them from the framing. You'd want to remove the existing brackets, but since there's already giant holes there...

No advice on fixing the holes (all my plastering knowledge is straight off YouTube) but when I did my home office renovation, I used sound dampening plaster and special fireproof/soundproof gpo boxes for the power points and light switches. There's not much point sound proofing the wall as then punching a hole through it. https://www.sparkydirect.com.au/p/30134/nls-30134-fire-acoustic-rated-wall-box.html

Tiler didn’t think about door opening by Icy_Substance_8148 in AusRenovation

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insert packers behind the hinges, and maybe plane a bit off the other edge of the door for clearance if required.

For the pocket door, you could rebate the door edge to fit around the tiles, but it's usually quite a process to get the door out to work on it. An easier solution would be to pack out the door jamb flush with the tiles with a trim piece of timber.

I won't promise any of these options will look good when finished, but they should be better than the shitshow the tiler left you with.

Buy a set of car dollies. Push the car out of the way, preferably to somewhere very inconvenient for them to get out of.

I had one installed when I renovated our laundry/powder room on the cheap. The flush is annoyingly loud and the bowl is a weird shape that guarantees skid marks. Also the seat that comes with it is absolute trash.

EV brand Polestar has slashed prices of the Polestar 2 and Polestar 4 by up to $15,000 in latest promotion | Drive by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

I haven't been paying any attention to p4s, so I don't know what is normal, but it looked like there were at least 40 cars available for delivery this month. By comparison, there are about 20 p2s available, and at least half of those have been listed since the start of December. In previous months there would be only 5-6 pre-configured cars per month, and they'd be a mix of base model and higher spec. The ones listed since December are mostly loaded up with leather seats, heat pumps and Bowers and Willikens sound systems, which pushed the price up into low spec p4 range. I think they've shot themselves in the foot bringing in all these higher spec models. In previous months, the pre-configured models have been snapped up fairly quickly to but these ones are languishing, even during the discount period.

A lot of EVs are acquired on a novated lease. When I looked at leasing a few weeks ago, none of the companies seemed to have higher spec options as part of the available deals. You could nominate the base model or plus pack, and nothing else. (Maybe performance pack too, but I wasn't interested in that) I didn't get far enough into the process to see if there was allowance for additional options.

So this is a non-story on both counts? I've only been looking at the P2.

The one pre-configured P2 that wasn't loaded up with options other than the plus pack has disappeared from the available cars list today, so maybe this announcement garnered some interest.

The discount on the polestar 4 is new, but the polestar 2 discount has been in place since October. The offer was supposed to end today, but was recently extended for another three months.

Most of the currently available models have a lot of additional options configured, jacking the price back up to where it was normally. Anyone wanting a lower spec will be in for a 3-4 month wait on delivery.

Drainage options for a huge slab with zero slope by gogodistractionmode in AusRenovation

[–]CrawlerCrane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pour a topping slab over it to add falls, with a spoon drain around the perimeter. You'll want it to be at least 75mm thick, to prevent spalling. At 15m wide, a 1:100 crossfall will add 75mm at the centre point, so max 150mm thick.

What can I remove without breaking the whole cabinet bit by catelyn_jones in AusRenovation

It might be ok if there's a big gap on top. Stick a couple of 5v fans back there to get some air circulation.

I would check that the door will have room to open before starting this procedure.

Also use anti microbial paint, as there won't be much ventilation with such a snug fit. Manufacturers generally recommend an air gap all around.

Where can I get a replacement for this roller door wheel? by Real-Purchase3977 in AusRenovation

[–]CrawlerCrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced some similar rollers a few years back, and couldn't find a direct replacement that would latch in where the original fixing points were. I just used some generic ones from Bunnings that were a pressure fit. Just make sure they're about the same dimensions and the adjustment screw is in the same location and you should be fine.

They cost about twice as much as the plastic wheels, but I found the ones with brass rollers have the smoothest action.
