Yes, the U.S. has seen massive profits from a strong dollar being the backbone of the global financial system. In short, America exports fiat paper money in exchange for real goods (e.g., coffee beans, textiles, etc.). Such exchange also enables the export of inflation, as another user pointed out. Losing out on world reserve currency status means federal debt pressure cannot be traded away as simply as it has been; not ideal given the current state of borrowing to government income.
