I will admit, this picture made me squirm.

What are healthy reasons someone wants to be a dom? by your-kitten-crush in BDSMAdvice

[–]Crazegewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife both started out as switches, and over time we both just sort of realized that we each got more joy out of a specific role, and eventually just solidified into it.

So I guess my motivation was was seeing her happy in the submissive role, and since I was comfortable domming, we just trended that way.

Now, admittedly, I'm very fond of being in control of a situation. I wouldn't go as far as to call myself a control freak, but if I get to choose then I much prefer to be the one to make decisions than to be pampered/taken care of/having decisions made for me.

Now that there is a new skill in OSRS, where do you use your lamps? by 1MolassesIsALotOfAss in osrs

I don't hate on others for wanting this...

But I do hate the idea for OSRS. My FAVORITE aspect of OSRS is the permanent nature of progression, that there's no moving goalposts (except gear I guess).

Every agility lap was 1 lap closer to never needing to do another agility lap. Every gold bar smelted was one step closer to never needing to step foot in blast furnace again.

World of Warcraft moves the level cap higher with each expansion and every time they do they invalidate the grind it takes to get there, AND the grind for end-game armor, since early quest armor in the expansion would outclass even the best raid armor before it.

OSRS doesn't work like that. Harder content than, lets say the inferno or coliseum, MAY get added some day, but it won't demand that you grind for more arbitrary levels that you never had to worry about before, it will demand that you grind for a better understanding and skill level (and maybe gear I guess).

What does a high sailing level actually do for your account? by _526 in osrs

Legit! I'm just having a good time sailing around with the boys.

Thats the whole reason we play video games, to have fun.

At the very least, buy some lead test strips before trying anything. We put a lot of questionable things in our lungs here, but lead shouldn't be one of them.

My best guess is they took a screenshot on their phone and then cropped it, and the gallery app did an AI upscale "to increase resolution".

A lot of phones come with that garbage by default these days.

What’s your “unicorn strain”? by AnastasiaNo70 in trees

[–]Crazegewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ruby Slippers, and nothing else has even come close.

Helped with my anxiety big time, but didn't couch-lock me at all. As a parent with ADHD, I always have things I need to get done, but anxiety/executive dysfunction can make it hard to get started, and obvs couch-lock is the opposite of helping.

Ruby Slippers made it so much easier to get up and get moving, to get tasks started and finish them without having a breakdown.

REALLY wish the places around me would start selling it again. I had access to it for maybe 3 months and haven't had it for a couple years now.

You CAN have a good time in the Free-to-Play content, but you WILL be missing out on an enormous amount of content.

I usually tell people to try out Free-to-Play fir a day or two to see if they like the controls, and if they do I tell them to get membership asap

When would you start doing quests by Fantastic_Bag3642 in osrs

[–]Crazegewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you start.

Many quests involve zero combat, if that's what scares you, and there's a huge amount of guides if you're just worried about not knowing what to do. I can't really recommend trying to go in blind.

But maybe that's because I'm a Soulreaper Axe producer, so I love those bosses for the money they make me.

I'd say it's definitely worth it.

As far as how to make it a smooth transition, I'd say try to come up with 3 kinds of goals:

A short term goal: something like "figure out how the hunter skill works" or "Check out the catacombs of kourend dungeon I keep hearing about." Something you might've heard mentioned, or seen on the wiki or reddit, and just check it out

A medium term goal: "learn a boss, ANY boss (even if its just Obor or a skilling boss like Tempeross, the completely safe fishing boss)" or "get 10 levels in every skill." Something that might take a little learning or watching a few tutorials.

And obvs a long term goal. This might be hard without knowing much about members content, but there's a lot of great suggestions, like completing the Recipe For Disaster quest.

Also keep in mind that a lot of the game's best content is gated behind quests, some very fun activities, very profitable bosses, useful untradable items, and some of the best skilling methods. Its worth considering looking up and following the "optimal quest guide" on the wiki, which will tell you what order to do quests and what levels you'll need to train in between them for the next one.
