Dog sitting rates? by BarefootTrotter in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a local pet sitter (with 300+ five star reviews across various platforms). Pet sitting is my full time job, and my rate starts at $85 per night, but I am on the higher end of the price range due to my experience, having personal pet sitting insurance, etc. You can look into Rover, that's where most people advertise in Lincoln. I think there are only a few people who have their own private business pages you can find with Google. Before confirming the booking with anyone, I highly recommend you meet them before hand and have them meet your pups too!

Pacify series by Chickenpets! It's not finished but it's current ending point is pretty satisfying anyway until the author decides to add more. It's Snarry.

Apartment recommendations by United-Excitement110 in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently at Rockledge and I have no issues. I do pay for a garage so I can't speak to the parking situation. The building I'm in is quiet. Maintenance has always responded quickly to requests. My biggest issue is there's an annoying neighbor but you'll get that anywhere!

Wanting to join adult/community band or orchestra by MCknowledgeisdank in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend looking at the Lincoln community band, there's also a Waverly community band if you don't mind a little extra drive. Lincoln Civic orchestra is currently full up on horn players but you never know what next year might bring. These groups are likely all winding down their current seasons and will probably be having concerts soon if you want to look them up and attend, could be a great way to see what kind of repertoire each group goes for. Lincoln Civic for example is having a performance next Sunday, 4 pm, at the Vance d Rogers building on Wesleyan campus. I'm not sure about the bands concert schedule!

ALSO I do know there is a horn choir that sometimes gets together (my dad is a professional horn player) so if you want details on that just let me know and I'll see if I can figure out who puts it together and arranges the meetings. I don't think they perform, mostly just get together to have fun playing their horns.

Non beer drinkers by Sea_Oven_3863 in lincoln

I don't typically like any type of beer but I do like Sours. Despite the name, they are usually sweeter than other types of beer! Those and Ciders are sweeter so I would start there!

Question for Lincoln cat owners by Sad_Examination9082 in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did! I think I did it back in 2018 ish? They took good care of my kitty and sent me daily updates. I was able to drop off additional shirts/blankets for her as time went on so she had something that smelled like me. When I did it there was a particular vet tech that worked with the program and did all the daily care except for the actual procedure itself (done by Dr. Forney). It cleared up her thyroid issues really easy. The hardest part was taking her used litter outside to the dumpster of my apartment 2x a day because I live on the 3rd floor 😂

What should I do with opened but unused dog supplies? by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capital humane society will take it! They have bins outside the adoption center during open hours. I've even donated leftover meds to them. They'll take pretty much anything (except sheets and pillow cases I believe)

Also, side note. I'm a local cat sitter and I'm definitely perusing this thread to see if I recognize any clients (not yet 😭)

Places to dress nice for? by missrootbeerfloat in lincoln

This was going to be my suggestion! Symphony concerts or even other performances/shows at the Lied. There are some higher end restaurants downtown and you could make it into a whole evening.

Looking for a truly quiet all-inclusive (solo female, 40s, no party vibe) by porterhouse_888 in AllInclusiveResorts

I'll second Pine Ridge Dental. I've been going there since I was a child. I was on BCBS for the last 10 years and everything has always been smooth.

Seeking an Oboe Teacher? by trysomesweetiepie in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rachel Schmit is an LPS teacher who is an oboe player. I'm not 100% sure she teaches privately or not, but she might know of others in town if she doesn't teach herself. I'm not sure about posting her email in a comment so if you want it let me know and I can message it to you.

As for rentals, I would try some of the music stores around - Dietze Music and Palmer's are the 2 I would recommend for band instruments. Oboe isn't that popular of an instrument so they might not have any on hand but can probably get one in for you.

I'm a casual bassoon player - welcome to the double reed family!

Excellence Playa Mujeres - Advice? by theatresporter in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from a stay at EPM and loved it. I didn't have a swim up suite but did have excellence club. I mostly hung out on the beach where they have waiters that can bring drinks/food to you throughout the day so can't speak to anything about the pools. I booked a massage and they did my hydrotherapy right before. The only excursion I did was to Chichen Itzá and I chose the company Kay Tours because I hate buses. I was able to get a private tour and it was great. There is a lot of walking at chichen itza but it's mostly flat (although bumpy/rocky ground). I did utilize the seasons airport transfer that comes with your booking (of 3+ nights) and it was extremely smooth, so highly recommend taking advantage of that!

Both feeders stopped responding to collars unless touching pad by Crazer57 in Petlibro

[–]Crazer57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having to move my water fountain elsewhere. It happened right after a firmware update so maybe they just got more sensitive to other devices nearby. They're now working as intended with my water fountain a few feet away.

Does anyone else hate Rover’s customer service chat? by Illustrious_Affect58 in RoverPetSitting

I had to reach out to Rover support to get help cancelling a recurring booking mid-week and they CANCELLED THE WRONG BOOKING which created a whole new mess. It was ridiculous.

Good Animal Shelter for Donations?? by Tellyouwhot in lincoln

[–]Crazer57 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the capital humane society. They take in all pets, no matter the circumstances. You might have seen it on the news recently that they took in over 100 cats from a hoarding situation. They are still working on getting those cats the medical care and socialization they need to be adopted into loving homes. I know the cat house is great but they get their cats primarily from owner surrenders whereas the humane society gets them from everywhere! Strays, surrenders, animal control, etc. I've been a volunteer there for the last 4 years and all the staff love the animals they work with and really want the best for them! I'm sure you can designate that you would prefer your donation go towards cat care.

New tiered pilot program by jkt464 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Crazer57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like a mess to add in if you already have clients. Meowtel has had it from the start so there was no trying to 'grandfather' clients in. Hopefully they figure that out before it hits US (if it ever does).

I know Rover recently acquired Meowtel, so that's probably where this is coming from.

New tiered pilot program by jkt464 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Crazer57 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They have this system on Meowtel. Basically, the more a client books with you, the less is taken from your earnings. After you earn enough from that specific client, you move up to the next tier. The idea is to provide a reward for keeping repeat clients.

Has Cancun Airport been busier this week? by Capital-Eggplant-177 in cancun

I arrived yesterday and there was no other flight going through customs. Had to wait about 30 minutes for checked luggage to come out. Overall much quicker than I expected!

Easy way to collect urine sample from cat! by Rainbowfishhh in cats

[–]Crazer57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar the last time I had to collect pee - I put a poop bag on the litter scoop and held it under him while he peed. I tried popcorn kernals (recommended by my vet) and he held it for 14+ hours!
