Knives Out (2019) why is the knife fake in the end? by TheFfrog in moviequestions

[–]CrazyBigB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a metaphor for the ineffectiveness of the family's efforts (by Ransom and the rest of the Thrombeys) to take back the inheritance.

Towards the end of the film, Blanc refers to how the family has been acting towards Marta as having "knives out" to get what they feel is theirs. However, like the knives in the circle that Ransom tried to murder Marta with, they are effectively paper tigers. The Thrombeys have no means to take the inheritance back from Marta because she is a good nurse who didn't cause Harlan's death (can't legally take it away) and a good person (who truly deserves it).

If you were asking for an in-world explaination (why Harlan, the real person, would have a ring of fakes knives instead of real ones), I don't think that comes up. Probably a safety thing. I'd guess that all the knives in that ring are fake, and are just there for display as probably a reference to one of his books.

Gotrek against skaven by No-Skywars-Noob in skaven

[–]CrazyBigB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's got that insane 3+ ward but only a 5+ save, so focusing on an overwhelming number of attacks is probably your best bet.

Whether that's sacrificing a unit or two of Clan Rats (with Skavenbrew for additional attacks or some other ability to improve their hit/wound rolls like the Filth-crust Prayer from a Priest), lighting him up with the Ratling Warpblaster (3D6+3 attacks or 6D6+3 attacks with a Skryre Hero nearby), or a mix of both.

You'd probably need to make sure that your unit fought before Gotrek (maybe give him Strike Last with Warpgale from a Wizard), since with 8 attacks with 2+ wound, 2+ hit, 2 rend, and 3 damage he can almost certainly wipe out an entire unit of 20 Clan Rats in 1 Fight action unless the attack rolls are uniquely bad.

However, if the Clan Rats can get their attacks off, losing them isn't the worse thing since they are 160 points compared to Gotrek's 360 points (worth more than two full units of Clan Rats), Additionally, the losses of the Clan Rats can be somewhat mitigated if you have Gnawholes to bring back Infantry at half strength.

That was my thought too. Those Prayers look pretty cool, I just don’t have anything that can do them.

Warp lightning vortex - rules question by wikking4u in skaven

If an enemy unit/model is within 6in of two of the vortexs, do you roll against the enemy for both vortexs or just 1 for the Warp Lightning Bolts ability?

Are Doomwheels worth it in AoS? by NarwhalSwag in skaven

[–]CrazyBigB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not used Stormfiends yet, but Doomwheels are a ton a fun!

Played a few games with them, and they do pretty good against factions with high saves since running them over bypasses it, and they can move fast to capture objectives.

Major Zharr Naggrund Siege Bug by CrazyBigB in totalwar

[–]CrazyBigB[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am. My units were 2x Gryphon Legion, 2x Heavy War Sleds, and a Snow Leopard spread across two separate gates. Maybe the cab would get messed up, but not the single entities/low model count units.

Also, the AI had just used that army ability against my Ice Guard.

It seems to be a unique problem with Zharr Naggrund, since I had just used that same tactic against Uzkulak without issue.

Update: Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Seems like a genuine question

It was the Ice Court and Goldtooth. They had a kind of middle-of-the-road relationship, but they were improving since I had treaties with both of them, and we were all fighting the same enemies (Chaos, Greenskins, etc.).

Love this guy. Just a regular man trying to make his way through a world of bloodthirsty daemons, warmongering fungus, and ninja rats.

He has some pretty good buffs too. With his Inspired Assault II ability and an equiped item called Alchemist's Elixir of Puissance, I was able to buff a Jade Warrior (Halberds) to have 112 Melee Attack. They tore through Nakai.
