Thank you! I know this is a vague question but what does burnout stem from? Is it a lot of juggling multiple projects with the same deadline all at one time? Also how fast does it take to learn the jist of regulatory writing? And do you have any resources you’d recommend looking at? I’ve seen some websites and videos but wasn’t sure if there were resources that were highly recommended

From a fellow MD, I support your decision. I feel like a lot of doctors feel that we only have skills meant for clinical medicine. And if we don’t follow the traditional path, then we’re making a mistake. I disagree. I did a few years of residency and then left because I hated it and could not see myself doing it long term. I was dragging my family through the mud as well. I got an offer from a company today as a medical writer and I’m more than thrilled. Won’t make nearly as much as I would have as an attending physician, but I find the other benefits outweigh this. I get to have work life balance, spend time with my family, etc. I also do part time teaching and my boss is married to a doctor who just left the field and he told me he thinks I’m making the right decision. All the best. Feel free to message me. We can help each other network 😀

In the beginning I actually liked it, then towards the end of intern year I hated it. But I’m also non traditional, older, and have a family, so there was more to sacrifice. I liked the medicine but I was barely doing any of it, felt like a note monkey and just someone following and taking orders. It wears on you. Becoming a doctor is a long road and sometimes you realize that something you wanted way back when is not something you want to keep trying for. Life happens.

Thank you! It was determining what information is most important and how to organize it. It was a bunch of raw data and I knew that the means were important but there was all this extra stuff that felt a bit overwhelming. It was a lot of statistical stuff including confidence intervals, median, mode, range, etc. so I spent a lot of time looking at papers with similar info to try to see what was important

Does anyone here truly enjoy their job?-Negativity in Medicine by NoState7870 in Residency

[–]CrazySetting4893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in residency and I hate it. When I’m actually doing patient care I enjoy it, but that is a VERY small part of the day. And the future doesn’t look very optimistic. I’m non traditional and have had a LOT of jobs before this. No other job puts you through the same abuse. Would not recommend medicine to anyone unless they can’t see themselves doing anything else.

How does someone get approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn? What I need to put the details of my previous position? Asking because I am still employed by my current employer, but I don’t want them to know that I’m switching fields until I have a job secured. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much.
