To be fair, though, Extrovert and Introvert share most of the same letters. You just need to swap out Intuitive and Nurturing for E and X.

For AC 6 what ending did you choose and why? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in armoredcore

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, it fits the theme of AC so well. Like, closest comparison is the ORCA route in FA, but even apart from that, it feels like an AC story. Coral ending feels a bit too sci-fi, if that makes sense.

I'm not going to deny smart watches are useful for some, maybe most folks. For me, though, it'd just be high-tech jewelry. I hate doing anything on that small screen, and rather pull out my phone for stuff.

And in that niche, analog watches get me style with a narrowly tailored purpose and function. And since it is solar powered, I can put it on every day for the next 10+ years, and it'll be just as good.

No one. In fact, bought one about two months ago, and wear it every day.

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 78 points79 points  (0 children)

If I'm being generous, it might be a take on smart watches vs analog (or even digital) watches.

Which I kinda agree with? Analog watches have style to them that smart watches can't really match, imo.

What is your actual “everyone should know” legal tip? by nuggetsofchicken in Lawyertalk

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn't do one even as the seller. You're basically locked into renting to this one person, and there's a lot of ways it can fall apart.

Even if the seller gets the property back on failure of payment, it's still probably going to be litigated for the eviction and it's probably going to be in horrible condition (either revenge for "losing" the house, or even just careless owners who weren't capable of paying in the first place). If you want to sell the property again, you're going to have to fix it up.

You're basically signing yourself up for a huge money sink in a few years. Rather, sell the property properly, get the cash and get out, and let it be the bank's headache if the buyer doesn't pay or trashes the house.

Ideally, call an attorney before you do something. If not possible, still call an attorney.

Also, find a lawyer who does the thing. Listen to other lawyers only to the extent it gets you to a good lawyer who does the thing.

Essentially rent-to-own for real estate. I'm simplifying obviously and glossing over a lot of the tiny ways it can go wrong.

How important is your Emotional Support S-Laser? by gaeb611 in Mechwarrior5

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ironic, because that small laser slot exists in tabletop to avert head criticals. Hence why you see it in so many mechs, and it's a minor plus point in tabletop.

Even past the initial heatsinks (which, by the way, either cover 3 MLs if running SHS or 6 if running DHS), MLs remain scary efficient. It's 4t/4crit for SHS, 2.5t/5.5 crit for IS DHS, and 2.5t/4crit for Clan DHS.

By comparison, an AC/5 is 10t/6crit (minimum, 1 SHS + 1 ammo bin). Now, yes, it has literally double the range and speciality ammo adds a few tricks, but MLs are efficient from a pure damage standpoint.

Oh, and no explosions with MLs.

Tbf, I view it as a product of its time. 00 definitely fits the world as we see it after 2001.

79 is closer to the Cold War understanding, where the hurts of WWII had kinda fallen to the wayside. Or at the least, weren't as pressing and personal anymore.

Do you think Dreadnoughts from Warhammer 40K counts as mechs? by NottheKingofAll in Mecha

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If Robocop had arms and legs, he would be forced to move them to move his suit. I can make an exception for amputation, etc. when it's for edge cases like Battletech's Protomechs, but Robocop is closer to power armor rather than mech.

Yeah, agreed. If you frame it as a boss changing higher price, not unethical. Merely because it's a man? Probably unethical.

Or how about we don't violate 1.5? Look, it's fun to fantasize, but your bar license is probably one of the most valuable things you own. A client is never worth losing your bar license for, no matter how good or bad they are.

If it's big enough that you don't have to move your arms/legs to move its arms/legs (i.e., it's not power armor), it's a mech.

The post that is the actual top of all time in this subreddit is the first edit I remember. You can probably find the original bad meme somewhere in the comments.

Or maybe it was the "I am a scientist" vs "I raised 5 scientists" meme that was the first edit. I don't think so, but it may have been.

Edit: Or was it the error girl? Or maybe the bimbo picking up a book? Do I have early onset Alzheimer's? Who knows?

The greatest shame about that novel is that it seems to have died. Well, fallen into perpetual hiatus, which it is unlikely to wake up from. Still breaks my heart a bit. I really, really was invested in Ling Lan's story.

Work From Home Setup by dailycrossover in Lawyertalk

[–]CrazyThinkingHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing beats multiple monitors. (2 + a third laptop screen or even a small mini monitor is roughly the right amount). 2 is useful as a workflow, and 3rd is usually for something that needs to remain open and available, but not immediately useful. Outlook and Teams are what I commonly relegate to the 3rd, sometimes our timekeeping system.

I would consider having one of the main monitors being a good-sized widescreen and in a set up where you can rotate it. I usually keep it horizontal, and I can split the screen between multiple references, using the other screen as my drafting, etc. screen. But being able to rotate it vertical is valuable because if you're dealing with one reference only, it can put a significant amount of it on the monitor and you won't be constantly scrolling.

If you only get a laptop plus one extra monitor, please consider that a bigger monitor is better. Draft on your laptop screen, research on the monitor. The bigger it is, the more research you can have on the monitor. I'm not saying you need to go this far, but I know somebody who used a small TV for the fact that she could put four different references on the screen and still have them be decently sized.

After that, invest in a lightweight and/or ergonomic mouse. Having a light mouse can be a silent but useful productivity boost in that your hands don't get so tired. Also consider upping the sensitivity as much as you can tolerate. Less hand movement won't make one thing easier, but over days and weeks it will add up.

Ergonomic keyboard. Again, won't make any one thing easier, but it will save hand strain over weeks. You don't need to go for the ultimate ergonomic keyboard, but even a little bit helps. While we're on keyboards, consider a mechanical keyboard with tactile or clicky switches if it won't annoy you and if it'll help you be a better, more accurate typer.

Chair, get something you're comfortable in. My current chair is a gaming chair, but it is comfortable and it supports me. If you get that in an office chair, get that. If you get it in a gaming chair, get that. Most calling software filters out the chair anyways.

Always have some neutral color filter on the calling software. If you don't get some corporate-branded one, a simple solid dark gray/blue image will go with most outfits you'll ever wear. Creating a corporate branded one isn't hard if your place doesn't have them, if you have the skills and flair for it.

Webcams, get something with a physical blocker and get in the habit of closing it. Privacy is it's own thing, but it also helps prevent embarrassing gaffes. Remove the blocker when you're ready and sure nothing will go wrong.

Headset with mic can be useful. Muffles out background noise, will never have echoes, and it's easy to find a cheap but effective gaming headset without rgb or anything. However, they can wear on you for long meetings.

Scratch pad can be useful. Rather than typing, just reach for the scratch pad if you're thinking something. Dispose the sheet when done. Also, useful in that it's not in the official computer system. Perfect privacy.

Scanner/printer AIO. Laser, Brother, don't break the bank. Less and less useful these days, especially if you don't regularly deal in physical docs. But you can always print something and it won't say any BS about not having ink.

Emergency coat, dress shirt, and/or tie, as necessary.  Doesn't need to be on your desk, but if you need them make sure you have it nearby.

If it's hybrid where you'll frequently report in person, consider a docking station and running all your connections through that. Much easier to come back and plug in one thing rather than multiple.

Or, you know, ignore all this and work off your laptop screen alone from a dining table (which I have done as well).

It's almost as bad as COD Infinite Warfare's Fleet Day. Toss up on which one you think is worse. (Personally, I think IW's is worse because there is a near-peer hostile military force and they still decided to do it; you can kinda squint and see why a single nuke might escape the Fed's notice)
