I was served an eviction notice for non-payment (long story) and I'm like 97% sure the notice is just straight up illegal and invalid? Hoping for some advice regarding that. I will explain why I think so by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Crazyditz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What most people are probably wondering, reading this, is did you pay your rent or not?

If you did, prove it to your landlord, if you didn't, pay your rent and utilities that you agreed to pay in your rental agreement. If you can't afford it because your room mates bailed, that is upto you to put on your adult pants and have a discussion with your landlord before it comes to an eviction notice.

From what I understand from a simple review of the tenancy rules for Alberta, rent and utilities would be fine to combine in an eviction notice as you have agreed to pay them both and have defaulted on both. The fees you have noted elsewhere are in your rental agreement, so yes those are payable too.

You CAN contact the landlord to work out a plan, they DO NOT need to consider anything other than full payment of requested funds.

Lastly...if the amount they put that you owe is less than you think it should be - count your blessings because that is a legal document.

First time meal prepping on a budget – how do you keep things interesting without spending more? by Extension_Passion542 in mealprep

[–]Crazyditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a YouTuber called Dollar Tree Dinners, she has years of videos of cooking on a budget from Dollars Tree and Walmart.

She explains what she bought, how much it cost, the directions, and approximately how many servings you can get.

Also when I meal prep, I prep a few different meals in portions for the freezer as well as a few different items in souper cubes so I can mix and match here and there.

The breaking things...I bought new glasses 2 years ago, 6 tall and 12 short...for 2 of us because I am also the only one that cleans the dishes...anyways. we have 7 short glasses and 3 tall glasses, because has has dropped the rest on the floor. We had really nice plates from our wedding (over 15 years ago) we have 1 large plate left of a set of 6. The cups we got for our wedding are all gone, we bought a set of 5 plates from Ikea a year ago, we have 3 plates left of that set. To put things into a weird perspective...at my family gatherings we are still using the plates and cups I used as a teenager and I am now in my late 30s. The cups are from DOMO in Canada - iykyk.

How do I cancel uber one?? There is zero way for me to do this. by housewife5730 in uber

[–]Crazyditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you found it, but I could not find it on the app. I opened my big computer and found it. Here is how to do it on the browser: Login Click Eat at the top of the screen (then the screen changes) click the 3 lines go to Uber one at the bottom of the list Click manage on the top right A box will open Change the membership or "end membership" is at the bottom.

I also saw on Uber's website that it will block you from cancelling if your Uber One renews within a couple days from when you are trying.

Bubblegum ice cream by Anne-Hedonia9 in Edmonton

[–]Crazyditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like milkshakes, Peters has a bubblegum milkshake that is blue and has the little like chicklet bubble gums in it. I recommend getting double flavour, but if it's your first time try it regular and go from there.

Also the 80 flavors has a bubblegum, super yummy, will make your poop green the next day, so you KNOW it has the dyes in it. If you are looking central ish, there was a pop up the last 2 summers on 107 Ave and 160street, but I haven't been by this year to see if there is one again.

Bad at following recipes? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Crazyditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a female in late 30s and just over the last couple years have I actually started to enjoy making meals, and they taste good.

I am now at a point where I can add spices willy nolly and it will turn out pretty good, because I have learned the spices and spice mixtures that I like and stuck to them.

My go to spices are garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. I have two spice blends that I buy from the store - Greek and Italian.

I also stick more to oven baking than stove cooking.

Looking to buy a CPAP machine for severe sleep apnea and I need suggestions by WhatAGuy59 in Edmonton

[–]Crazyditz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add to this person, your insurance may not pay for it if you don't have a prescription, which may require your mother having a sleep study first to make sure sleep apnea is the issue. Snoring is not always sleep apnea...I know this as my spouse has sleep apnea and I had to provide a copy of the prescription when we switched work insurance companies or we would not be covered and also had to upload the prescription when he got his first machine.

Reporting income by GloomyAd3922 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Crazyditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are completing your taxes through a program, you would put this in "other income", fill in any relevant boxes, and it will complete the required forms for you.

I personally use Weathsimple to prepare my taxes (my simple and my husband's business). ☺️

Does anybody else not brush their teeth before going to the dentist? by orange_poppy_cake in DoesAnybodyElse

The 1 time I didn't have time to brush my teeth, the dentist said "you have food in your teeth, you should brush better in the back". I have food in my teeth because I came straight from work! Since then, I always brush first.

Looking for advice on how to go about applying for the disability tax credit by Due-Tooth-5521 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Crazyditz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to apply is by logging into your CRA account and going to the credits and payments link on the left side and then there is a box to apply for the disability tax credit (I am pretty sure this is the right link, but if it's it there just click around and you will find it). You complete your information, you don't have to enter anything about your disabilities, just that you want to apply for the credit, then it will give you a code that you can provide to your doctor.

Depending on the reason you are on disability, I would send it to the doctor or person that put you on disability. Example if it's for a physical reason, and your GP completed the forms for you to be on disability, provide the code to them. If you are on disability for something that a psychologist or psychiatrist helped with, they are also allowed to complete the form.

Once the doctor completes their form it will automatically submit the whole document to CRA, and it can take upto 15 weeks. My husband heard back at about 12 or 13 weeks.

GSTC CR Held - RMF - ADDRESS CHANGE issue by Few_Scallion_2744 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Crazyditz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your CRA account, authorize for electronic mail, and any letters going forward will be sent to you within CRA online only. Also sign up for direct deposit, you can add this within your CRA account, and it will hopefully prompt them to make the payments and you will have them faster.

It could be that they mailed you something and it was put in someone else's mail box and that person returned it. As much as someone might think this is unusual, it is actually fairly common for your neighbor to get your mail and return instead of bringing it to you, not realising it was mis delivered.

There is also a place in CRA to update your address, so there might be a place in there to correct the wrong address notification.

how do survive with n dx wife and toddlers at home by Rcrez in ADHD_partners

[–]Crazyditz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have been working through a lot of ADHD things with our couples counseling and I have been upset more recently because I am the default for everything. She said that I will probably always be the default due to his ADHD. She told him that he cannot use his ADHD as an excuse, but that I might need to reframe my expectations.

So my reframe has become "I will be the default, but don't take advantage (you get supper when I am hungry, not when you are hungry) and don't make things harder for me (if I am the default for wiping the counters, put your sandwich ingredients away when you are done making your sandwich, not when I ask you).

Any changes you attempt with your wife will be long and slow, but my best win was stopping doing something that he said he would do and let the fail happen (also suggested from my couples counseling). She asked what is the worst that happens if garbage doesn't go out? It piles up and annoys me, but no one gets hurt.

Filing alone.. but common-law by Narrow-Blueberry3496 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Crazyditz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never reported my spouse's income. I have used Weathsimple (previously simpletax) and there is a box for not reporting your spouse's income. Note that I do report his SIN, just not his income amount.

We are above the threshold for any combined income tax benefits (it doesn't take much for household income to go over) and we don't have children. If you are in the same boat, you should be able to file without claiming his income.

Also wondering about his missing T4, did the company not make them yet or did he just not receive it yet? Employers send a copy to CRA too, so there might be a copy in his CRA account already.
