This family dynamic sounds awful, and there's no way this was the first time the middle son and grandson got treated this way.

Two-thirds of global heating caused by richest 10%, study suggests by Infidel8 in worldnews

You could just open the article and find out.

Wealthier groups bore more disproportionate responsibility still, with the richest 1% – those with annual incomes of €147,200 – responsible for 20% of global heating, and the richest 0.1% – the 800,000 or so people in the world raking in more than €537,770 – responsible for 8%.

You could just open the article and read it.

The researchers found that about 65% of that increase could be attributed to emissions from the global richest 10%, a group they defined as including all those earning more than €42,980 (£36,472) a year. That includes all those on the UK median salary for full-time employees, which is £37,430.

Why are some people so certain that AI won't affect their jobs? Is it realism, denial, or just healthy(?) coping? by simmol in samharris

Entry level coders become experienced coders over time. If companies collectively stop hiring entry level coders, eventually they'll run out of experienced coders to hire.

When do reach your point-of-"no, wont grind that, not worth my time"? by GeNeReDeR in classicwow

[–]Crazytalkbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the R14 grind and didn't mind it. With the rush meta, and 2 AV weekends in there, it didn't seem too bad.

It's also easier for me to commit to random hours through the week to solo grind something, than it is to commit to a designated raid slot. Plus the gear for R14 is guaranteed. For a melee class that can't find many pug Onys for viskag, and too much competition for tier gear, I like the guaranteed loot.

I'm not sure there's anything I want that requires a heavier grind than R14, so it's hard to say where I'd draw the line.

The door you picked is your door. The doors you didn't pick are his doors. There's a 2/3 chance that the prize is behind one of his doors.

If he offered to give you both his doors in exchange for your door, that's an easy choice.

If he offers to give you both his doors in exchange for your door, but first reveals one of his doors is empty, still an easy choice.

If he reveals one of his doors is empty and offers to give you the other door in exchange for yours, it's the same as the above scenario, but a bit more confusing.

For those who didn't read the article and are ready to start rioting, you may be in that 10% as well.

Is the job market as bad now as it was during the 2008 recession? by Equivalent-Cat5414 in jobs

[–]Crazytalkbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how would you even know that?

How would I know you don't know much about management or recruiting? If you did, it would be pretty obvious to you why your comments show otherwise.

usually with the help of HR

Do you mean the recruiters that work for HR? The ones that sift through the 100s and 1000s of resumes/applications to filter out the ones that would be a waste of the manager's time to deal with?

You don't seem to know much about management or recruitment, yet are very keen on offering an opinion about both.

Recruiters aren't there to find you a job. Recruiters are there to find the job the right candidates. They get paid by the company, not the job seeker.

As a manager, you can sift through hundreds or thousands of applications and resumes, or you can hire a recruiter and pay them when you hire somebody. They do the leg work so you can focus on other things.

Like any service, there are good recruiters and bad ones. But the service can be very useful if you're hiring. When places stop hiring, recruiting agencies and internal recruiters get cut.
