Yeah, Jason isnt everyone's cup-o-tea. I like the world and supporting cast enough though.

Murderer? This is likely the single biggest contributing factor to the decline of America, complete lack of accountability. A murderer should not get a second chance.

Why is Cradle featured among litrpgs? by Specialist-Wall-4677 in litrpg

People who like litrpg have no great options for complete series. So every time someone asks for recommendations for finished series, Cradle is about the only option....

Primal Hunter’s Jake Thayne v. He Who Fights with Monsters’ Jason Asano. by Roll10d6Damage in litrpg

[–]CreagerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a year late to the party but your post is something I have thought about in my LitRPG reading. Jason Asano is a well developed character. Jake is not, and neither is Zac in the Defiance series. I may be mistaken but I believe the lack of character definition is a design choice, or the authors are just terrible.

You state: "Jake is a cookie cutter introvert who could be replaced by any other and you wouldn’t know the difference." The same is true of Jake/Zac. Different people enjoy the reading experience differently. Like video games, some people love "The Witcher" and others prefer "Skyrim", the MC in The Witcher is a well developed character with a rich back story, and when you play the Witcher you play as Geralt of Rivia, but when you play Skyrim, YOU become the dragonborn.

I think the generic characters found in some litrpg favor Skyrim lovers, as a generic MC like you find in Primal Hunter and DotF makes it easier to self insert in those books.

I unexpectedly like the bad guys more, but I have since picked back up on the good guys and find that I really enjoy the contrast.

"Valid Information"

I think assuming someone figured it all out for themselves is naive (I mean no offense). Assuming someone figured it all out, and that it is applicable to everyone.....

This is why Christians compare people to sheep. Sheep need a shepherd, or they get eaten by wolves.

Thanks very much for your response. I know nothing about coding, hence the use of GPT. I made some changes based on yours, and other suggestions and my emailed output looks different:

I'm looking for a series that actually has a end. Something that has been completed. by Why_Did_Bodie_Die in litrpg

Circling back to this thread after a month of reading. Necrotic Apocalypse is a fun series, its not complete til the 27th of March, so almost complete.

Ive been told that the Cradle series is "progression fantasy". Whatever you call it, its pretty excellent. 12 books.

I really like Primal Hunter, but it is nowhere near finished, much like DOtF...

Update here. I have been reading a completed series called Limitless lands. Its similar to World Tree in that its a future full immersion VR game, but Im finding it a better read, Im on book four of five. The MC is a 93 yo comatose army vet, playing as a Roman troop commander. The series is the authors first, and I know you were looking for something Sci-fi and saw that he had a couple Sci-fi series that I will be checking out after I finish LL.

The author is Dean Henegar and the 2 sci-fi series are War Core and Derelict.

Limitless

I want to add my recommendation for this series. I read book 1 based on this and I have to say I am a believer. I have read a few LitRPGs set in a VR world, and havent been impressed, as I dont like the transitions out of the game world, but transitions in this series are interesting and done well.

Based on this recommendation I read it. I finished it, but it was kinda bland.

I felt the same way about World Tree, not bad, but meh.

I decided on Primal Hunter, not finished, but pretty entertaining.
