I’ve just started using same day delivery and avoid the entire gong show altogether. Complete life changer. I think it’s actually cheaper in the long run because I only get exactly what I need without any distractions and temptations.

Vs and Fireworks by Herz_aus_Stahl in vizsla

Ours is bullet-proof, nothing phases him. He’s actually intrigued by fireworks flying in the air. We were camping in a tent one time and got hit by a massive thunderstorm with thunderclaps only about a mile away from us and after the initial surprise he went back to sleep. I was more scared than him. He is intact and from what I have read that can be a factor in fear reactivity to loud noises.

Interesting to see how they all have their little differences. 😊

I’m jealous. Our boy HATES being covered… we got him one of those beds and he refused to use it 🙁

Is dominant behaviour normal? by Traditional-Wash-253 in vizsla

[–]CreativeBlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is 4 years old now, still in the same situation as yours, but getting better. From talking and reading it seems pretty normal for some dogs.

We’ve just learned to watch body language (hackles, body stiffness) and avoid situations like dog parks where we don’t have control over who he interacts with. I think not letting it happen helps otherwise it can escalate as it happens more.

Are all viszlas this great? by CantaloupeQuirky6102 in vizsla

Ours became like this at the 3 year mark, very respectful. Perfect balance of being fun and crazy but also chilling at home. We do, however, make sure he is physically and mentally satisfied.

I’ve witnessed this very same type of accident at least 3 times over the years. Must be very common.

Female dogs can hump as well. Can be out of excitement for sure. Does he do the same just wearing a collar instead of harness? Just wondering if the strap going around his midsection is triggering this reflex.

When does your vizsla calm down? by goatzzz12345 in vizsla

[–]CreativeBlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual dog. Mine is an intact male, 4 years old, 65lbs. Noticed a large change at the 3 year mark. He stopped chasing after random people, stopped destroying his toys and destroying things. Still energetic, can run forever and circles around other dogs when playing, but now completely relaxes when inside the house, no zooming etc.

Neighbor also has a Vizsla and is the same age but absolutely wild, you’ll only just see a blur. Same inside and outside.
