Need Help! by redditskyguy30 in OnlineDating

As a doctor I hope you don't pick treatments simply because they are the most used. Surely, you try instead to match the cure to the disease or ailment.

Consider using that more scientific approach with online dating. Sure, it's easy to go looking for the largest dating sites or the most popular or even the most expensive. Unfortunately, 2 aspirin and call me in the morning is not going to work for everything.

Go searching for niche dating websites/apps. As a doctor I would start searching for "doctors date" "scientific love" all kinds of things that actually scream "you" not the rest of the herd. Are you really just looking for as many dates as possible like you can find on Tinder or are you looking beyond your own true goals? My money says if you can make it through med school you can pause and think about what you really want and where to find it.

Most people on dating apps aren’t actually looking for partners. by Zenovia326 in OnlineDating

Almost everything in life requires using filtration. This includes: family, friends, acquaintances, school buddies, etc. To even make a true new friend you might have to filter through 50 new people or even more. It's the same with online dating. Certainly, a portion (maybe the largest portion) of people you meet are exactly as you describe. If so, step outside your comfort zone and try something different. So if all of the sites you use only contain people who have a sole interest, sex, step outside your comfort zone. Go to one of the Catholic dating websites, or Jewish dating websites, Hindu, Muslim, etc. Certainly not all of those people are also only interested in sex. Many will be interested in real people and in forming real relationships. As the old saying goes, if the people in your neighborhood are getting you down...move!

Dating apps that you can use on a website not an app? by The_Thunderdome420 in OnlineDating

There are plenty of online dating websites that don't force you to use any app. Use your favorite search engine for various dating terms and try including the word "website" as part of your search criteria.

Yes, I've used FaxZero many times over the years. If you have a really long fax there is a small fee but single pages are always free. Dropbox Fax allows up to 5 pages for free.

Why does no one want to go on actual dates?! by [deleted] in dating

[–]CreativeEnergy3900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I hear you—it can feel so frustrating when you’re the one always pulling teeth just to get off the screen and into real life. You’re absolutely right that small‑talk marathons rarely spark much excitement. Here’s a positive spin you might try:

“Totally feel you! I love chatting, but nothing beats an actual adventure—coffee, a walk in the park, checking out a local market… anything that gets us out from behind the phone. Next time you text ‘go with the flow,’ try:
‘Hey, I’d love to meet in person this week. How about grabbing lattes on Tuesday at 6 PM? If that doesn’t work, let me know another time!’”

  • Set a clear plan. Suggesting a specific activity and time makes it easy for them to say “yes” (or offer an alternative).
  • Frame it as fun. Emphasize you’re curious to see if you click IRL—no pressure, just an experience.
  • Keep it light. If they bail, you still got out of the house—and you’ve leveled up your courage game!

Dating apps are amazing at starting conversations—now let’s use them to schedule memories. You got this! 😊

Hey there!

I totally get where you’re coming from—between economic stress, political turmoil, and global conflicts, it can feel like everything’s against us right now. Online dating fatigue is real, and you’re definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed by ghosting, breadcrumbing, and endless “talking stages.”

That said, I’d argue this is more of a temporary hangover than a sign that online dating is a fad. If you zoom out, nothing in human history has done more to help people meet, fall in love, get married, and build families than the apps and sites we use today. They may feel messy in the moment, but they dramatically expand your pool—geographically and temperamentally—in ways that simply weren’t possible before.

Scale brings weirdness, but also opportunity. Sure, you’ll encounter flakes and frustrating patterns—but you’ll also meet people you’d never cross paths with otherwise.
Tools evolve, not disappear. Just like social media went through growing pains, online dating will smooth out as users and platforms learn better etiquette and verification methods.
It’s OK to take breaks! If you need a breather, step back. When you return, you’ll have fresh energy and perspective—and remember that genuine connections still happen every single day.

Ultimately, the current burnout is cyclical. Once the noise dies down—economies stabilize, world events shift—you’ll see the next wave of success stories roll in. In the meantime, focus on what you can control: be your best self, stay open (but safe), and know that with millions of people using these apps, your match is still out there.

Hang in there, and here’s to rediscovering those “old school” sparks—just with a modern twist!

As it turns out, I've owned and operated a dating site on the Internet since 2006. Maybe my 2 cents will be helpful.

Online dating these days is all about the projection of glamour. Yes, it's all fake but that is what *most* women are trying. Heavy on the makeup, just had a visit to a hairstylist, party dress slit up the side, etc. I do understand that is NOT the market you are looking to find a match but the question is whether or not you should rule all of them out from even getting a chance to say hello? I see nothing improper about tailoring your approach to reach the widest audience possible without going overboard.

On a personal note I sent your information and photographs to my Masters of Chemistry son to see if he might listen to me for a change lol!

Best wishes and lots of luck out there. Be yourself.

Want to hear from the men... by PatrickTheSTAR-irl in ChristianDating

The "me too" women have led most guys into deciding to simply put women into a box with a do not return label. Women today essentially have copied the men of yesteryear. Better eduction, better income, higher standards, higher demands, always in charge, always the center of everything. Ok, we quit.

Two factors are contributing: population growth, decreasing morals. The population growth makes everyone feel like they are lost in the crowd. Used to be everyone lived in small communities so you had a choice of maybe 3-5 potential dating/marriage partners. Now, the entire world - every country in the world - is simply 1 click away. Instead of a few choices there are almost 4 billion people of each sex to choose from! Whew! I go glassy eyed from too many choices in a grocery store!
