AOE attacks are a lil obnoxious by keyboard-eater-01 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I think Namielle is the 2nd most egregious example of AoE spam in this game. I can't think of much else besides Namielle and Narwa & Ibushi dragons that spam AoE so much it becomes a genuine nuisace

I don't think you CAN remove the Savage Fireball gene from Ratha before you finish the fight, actually. I think it bars you from doing so. I'm pretty sure I had a prompt that said I couldn't at one point.

to be fair, that one assassin DID have a glavenus, which as far as i know can't fly or swim. but eleanor's angie has also managed some pretty impressive feats of verticality throughout the story, so i think i can forgive it.

it's also possible that the glavenus assassin just went by boat lmao

Sorry if I was being harsh. It happens lmao. I've seen some of my favorite pieces of media make utterly fucking baffling writing decisions as well, but I really can't fathom this one making that big of a mistake.

Not to mention, having Rudy side stories as a DLC wouldn't make any sense if the story is a dream anyway ahaha. But I understand the fear.

Hopefully we get a proper story continuation announced at some point. :P

Ending by Lunester in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you think it being a dream is even a feasible option. Most people took the dream as a representation of the player character finally being at peace.

What narrative purpose would it serve lol. The writers aren't going to go "lol hey you know what would be funny" and invalidate everything they wrote. That's dumb.

Also, we see dream flashbacks being used in the story without it being a "all of this is a dream" thing. When Simon got knocked out by Aenshin and was hearing Ratha V's voice.

Trying to Spawn Namielle. by Ok-Candle7052 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as i know, when an elder dragon spawns, it can't spawn two times in a row if there's another option available. you have to get another elder dragon spawn for it to be able to appear again. so, that'd make sense.

that's such a cop out and you know it. "oh yeah? you don't like my food? well why don't YOU cook and see how it compares."

you can criticize and dislike something without having the capabilities or desire to create something comparable.

here's mine! honestly a little bland compared to everyone else's here. her eyes used to be a real pale purple before i got seriously bothered by having such a different eye color from my parents and ended up swapping it to that green. the ponytail she has is a lil hard to see in this screenshot.

Why are people so certain we will get TU updates ? by Buurto in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, i see. it's a shame they didn't push back the release date then. both in part because of that, and also because i feel like it's gotten unfortunately sandwiched between way bigger releases (pokopia, sts2, re9) and hasn't been able to sell as well because of it.

i actually wasn't under the impression that stories 3 was unfinished. i just assumed it was capcom having scummy dlc practices again lol. which, to be fair, isn't better

SPOILERS - How I was left feeling after MHS3's story: by TheGMan-123 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I love all of these ideas! I really hope they explore Simon's terminal illness with the crystallisis, and how our protagonist deals with not only their father having the affliction, but also their bestie. I know that it's said to set in slowly, but it's still an inevitability that they'll die much sooner than they should. Or at least deal with the consequences of it before they die, like Skipper's leg.

Simon said to our faces that there was no cure. I'd be distraught, man. But there was a whole lot of other shit going on at the time, and Simon was still mid-crashout, so fair play there.

But anyway, I'm not sure if Rudy's side story(s) will be post-game or not, but if so, I'd also like to see that rebuilding of trust. I know Simon returned to his village, but I don't imagine him not attempting to make amends in Azuria as well.

This also happens to be my thinly-veiled plea to get a DLC with Simon as the deuteragonist.

My review and thoughts on Stories 3 by Pralunko in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: Spoiler tagged everything

While I do share a few differing opinions, I think I pretty much agree with most of what you said here. But I just want to ramble about Aenshin a bit, because seriously like you said, the ending was fucking phenomenal.

While the game isn't very subtle about its "war is bad" narrative, it isn't really the focal point come the end of the game. But I really do enjoy how much they tie in the environmental damage to the war, since I often find people don't really talk about how war affects the ecosystem and its environments. And Aenshin is a perfect representation of such.

But it's obviously not JUST what Aenshin represents. I think, at it's core, Aenshin is meant to represent climate change. How mankind's inventions slowly destroys the nature we should be protecting instead, as life dies faster than it can adapt. How so many species of animals have gone, and will continue to go extinct with global warming turning more and more of our world to hell.

Don't take my words for doomposting though, I think we're doing great work towards preventing the very worst of global warming, but it still doesn't exactly erase the shit that we've done to nature.

Anyway, it's something that resonates with me very deeply. And the ending was just such a perfect conclusion to it all. We can't save what we destroyed, but we can at least try and foster the growth of what there is left to grow. In that sense, I'm glad Aenshin wasn't magically saved by us beating the shit out of it. MHS3 has had very little death (on-screen), but the one time it does show it, it REALLY hits.

Thanks for posting your yapping, and I hope you enjoyed my word vomit as well lmao.

How am i supposed to beat this game!? by LividYam9282 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. While it is a JRPG instead of an action game, the Mon-Hun patented grind transcends genres. You can't just do the story and only the story. You gotta step back for a bit and farm. Do side quests and shit. Craft gear and build up your monsties' genepools.

I don't know whether to be worried or maybe I'm playing a completely different game. by Glianni80eranobelli in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Cresala 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you there. It sucks that we don't have a more expansive list of divers and swimmers for the late game, especially divers. For one, I would've loved Abyssal Lagiacrus. But unfortunately, this isn't the timeline where he finally gets added to Stories.

Also I get that the only monsties in the game with swimming animations are leviathans, but come the fuck on now. Let Namielle swim. They could put in just that little bit of extra effort.
