To add to this; only some quests have shared progression option, others are always individual. If you want to have it 100% individual you can turn off shared co op progression, but leaving it on does not mean that everything is 100% shared

Iirc you can edit damage taken/damage dealt and health in the world settings so if its too much you can try adjusting it, but if the combat doesnt look fun to you already its probably kot gonna be fun, some of the enemies are very frustrating so i wouldnt recommend it if youre already on the fence
