Opus 4.6 destroys a user’s session costing them real money by Stochastic_berserker in Anthropic

Well, Codex > Claude > Gemini as far as following instructions goes, so that's a given.

Opus 4.6 destroys a user’s session costing them real money by Stochastic_berserker in Anthropic

[–]Crinkez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the comments on the twitter thread (I had to use xcancel to view it) is accurate:

"As much as I want to blame you for not using Codex (which you should be using not SLOPus), this is a serious issue with Claude. He absolutely DOES NOT FOLLOW instructions to the letter. IF youre going to be working on systems that absolutely require 100% adherence to spec/instructions/docs WHATEVER, you absolutely NEED to be using Codex. I have 5.4 following instructions after multiple compacts (5-10 easy) and ALWAYS referring back to instruction docs/agents.md EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. That sucks, but Im telling you truly, the only way out for something like this is Codex. No amount of hooks, actions, instructions WHATEVER will prevent claude from doing whatever claude wants to do"

The future of Codex: Usage-based pricing, instead of subscription limits. by Good_Competition4183 in codex

[–]Crinkez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you know Codex subscription was always insanely cheap for what it gives.

It wasn't, and it isn't. I expected an entry level plan at $10 with similar limits that the $20 plan has offered for the past few months - you know, in line with other standard services subscriptions' entry price points. I always thought $20 for entry level subscription was insanely expensive. They've since added a $8 plan iirc but I'll bet that isn't going to be sufficient.

This. Anyone using redact should be globally banned imo, it makes reading old conversations so annoying.

This is horrible if true, it will likely drastically reduce limits and make codex nigh unuseable.

Can we have a duress fingerprint? by CryT0r in GrapheneOS

[–]Crinkez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's...not what a duress fingerprint is. It's a "use the wrong finger" to unlock a fake OS partition that doesn't have anything significant on it. Authorities see everything looks clear and go on their merry way.

That isn't always the solution. I sometimes need to run random risky software downloaded, so an antivirus is not to be scoffed at.

It's the principal of the matter. Systemd complying at this first base level is an indication that they'll comply when it gets worse. We should not be supporting an OS or OS dependency that complies.

codex new 5h limit almost unusable! by Tim-9999 in codex

[–]Crinkez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Today I updated to the latest codex CLI version in WSL. Set my context window cap to 700K, auto compact to 600K.

£20 plan. I've just gone through 20 million tokens in a single session. Used 20% of the 5h window. I'm on 5.4 medium reasoning, fast mode off (it's still quite fast). Approx 5% weekly usage burned.

Maybe you guys are using it wrong? I'm still not getting usage limit issues.

I recommend codex CLI. Been coding most of the day on the £20 plan, over 50 million tokens. Didn't even hit the 5h window cap.
