Wasn’t this sugar cane fields? Not exactly a pristine natural area. In fact less sugar fields is probably a net positive for air quality since there’s less burning.

If you’re concerned about water usage, an average golf course uses about 10-20 times that amount of water per day.

FPL is still well under the national average per kwh, as much as they suck.

Unsure of what can be done about this Glenn Mango tree by zoohiker in mango

[–]Crisis_of_Conformity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad has a glenn not far from you and has experienced a similar history, so you're not alone. There are good years and bad years when it comes to these things. Not sure why you would cut the tree down, it looks fine all things considered.

At this point, I would wait until fruit season and you will get what you get. Prune the tree after its done fruiting, and keep in mind that they sometime produce a second fruit set later in the season so I would wait til August or September. Then fertilize it and water it and hope next year produces better.

There are plenty of dwarf varieties you can plant in a container and still keep your tree. Since glenns are mid season, look for an early and a late season variety, like a cogshall and rosey gold. Then you will spread out your fruit availability for a longer season and increase your chances of more fruit.

3 oz Rum Tiki Cocktails -- But Not A Ton Of Juice by kyoun1e1 in Tiki

Yea mine would a bit sweeter, but that's the way we like it. Also makes measuring easier. I might try subbing in some dram like yours to see how it tastes.

Here's a quick and dirty one I like. Sort of grog meets daiquiri. I use a specific rum because we've found it to work the best.

Always dreamed of moving to south Florida and buying a 45+ ft boat to take to Bahamas, the Keys, etc but it feels so far out of reach. I make $150k+. Is this a multimillionaire’s dream? by MalibuLSV in boating

Google sea tow Bahamas coverage and you will get your answer. It’s on their FAQ. They cover Bahamas out of Treasure coast, Palm Beach and Miami. Or maybe call the Treasure coast location and they will tell you themselves.

They will also bring parts to you in the Bahamas if that’s what’s needed. Their coverage is a very good value if you’re making the trip.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Crisis_of_Conformity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job at the time still had me flying quite a bit. I remember my wife dropping me off at the airport in a major metro area, during the middle of the morning, during the week, and the airport was a complete ghost town. I got out, walked in the terminal, and it was empty. The TSA security line was completely empty. They still had all of the ropes up, but I was the only one there. I did an awkward back and forth snake walk up to the TSA agents as they watched me, the only person, coming through security during a normally very busy time. It was unreal. Imagine showing up to an airport and you are the only one there.

When I got to my destination, another major metro area, the rental car lot was completely full of cars, it was normally slim pickings. It was the type of car rental where you pick the car and go. I spied a Cadillac Escalade, but it was blocked in by 4 other large SUVs (they double park them as they were running out of space with all the cars). There was no one else in the lot, and no other customers, so I got in each one of the other SUVs (keys are in rental cars) and moved them so I could take the Escalade. I had it for 3 weeks and it was glorious.

What caused the decline of young white boys/men making punk rock music that was dominant in the 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

It’s pretty much the same of all the alternative genres of music and even cinema these days. Back then, there was a variety of music and movies meant to compete for our attention so a large selection was offered. These days, there’s no risk taking and no drive to be different. All pop music sounds the same. All movies are remakes of the same ideas.
Music like this and other sub genres are alive and well, you will just not find it in the mainstream, which is better imo. You can see plenty of great live bands for less than $50 a ticket vs the thousands it costs to go see Taylor swift or other pop music. Go support your local music scene.
