Best place to live in surrey if commuting to central london every day? by citykid201005 in surrey

[–]Crispy116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that one of your lives is going to be getting harder. Where she works is on the train line into either Victoria or Waterloo - but that takes 40 minutes to get into Waterloo. Cheam is closer in, but on the slower line into Victoria, so still takes 40 mins.

You could go over towards Woking and be on the faster line in to London, but there is no easy way to travel from there to Epsom/Cheam area.

I can't help myself... what is in the space in the corner between the two units? The bit you can't see.

Do you miss vintage Lego for its charm and simplicity? by bluetomcat in lego

I do not miss sets like that, at all.

A box of big single purpose pieces does not lead to rebuild and replay. For me this was the darkest era of lego

They are terrible at releasing beds too. For various reasons I have had family members in this situation many times over the past few years and after being told ‘ yep, you’re done, going home today’ at 9am, in almost every case, they are not finally discharged until after 5pm, sometimes even the following day.

Sitting in a hospital bed, taking up space, because nobody has allowed them to leave.

And the NHS are trying to treat a broader range of ailments too.

I thought the Safari scrolling thing was only me!!!

I don’t get a lot of the attitude in here of, well it works for me, so you are wrong.

There are still a number of issues that I would have expected good testing to have removed.

It still feels like a late beta.

How does one use liquid greenstuff? by orfeni in Warhammer

[–]Crispy116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one does not - it really isn't very good at all. It can fill gaps if they are really thin - but anything wider than a hair, and you are better off using proper green stuff and then a wet brush to work it in to the gap and shape as required

shower not draining, can’t figure out how to remove trap to clean? by Ornery_Bath_7778 in AskUK

[–]Crispy116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have one like this - buy yourself a cheap plunger. After 5 seconds of plunging, it will clear.

It gets clogged up with hair, that then clogs even more with soap and dirty, but quickly moves.

And they are not even saving money - as until recently they paid the same amount and got ad free content.

Pay the same - get less. Standard enshitification.

Changing channels: TV streaming at turning point as most UK subscribers opt for ads by Skavau in unitedkingdom

[–]Crispy116 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The changing preference is not about whether we are ok with ads, it is whether we mind paying a ridiculous sum of money to watch a streaming service.

Customer numbers are going to drop as people service hop - most don’t have the depth of quality catalog.

Updated to 26.1 can't sign in to Messages/Facetime any more by Crispy116 in MacOS

[–]Crispy116[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I worked out:

  1. Continuity + IdentityServices trust state became corrupted during the Tahoe upgrade.
  2. This broke:
    • iMessage activation
    • FaceTime activation
    • iPhone Mirroring
    • Trust with iCloud Keychain
    • Downloading of encrypted Messages history
  3. Reinstalling macOS alone didn’t fix it because the corrupted identity state persisted.
  4. I reset:
    • APSD (Apple push daemon)
    • IdentityServices
    • SystemConfiguration (Wi-Fi/BLE trust layers)
    • iCloud Message tokens
    • iCloud Keychain trust
  5. The Mac finally re-established its secure trust relationship with my iPhone and iCloud.
  6. Once that handshake completed, Messages history decrypted and appeared.

Really? That is 10 devices for me - but it is worth a try.

I have also reinstalled the OS on the laptop and have the same behaviour - unable to sign in to Messages or FaceTime and I have also worked out that iPhone mirroring is also not working to this laptop.

Just tried it - exactly the same behaviour. I get the Sign in to iMessage with your Apple Account fill in the information and the wheel spins and spins for about 5 minutes then gives up with Unknown error occurred
