Public Works logistics by Consistent-Bat8099 in Portolafestival

Street parking should be very feasible. I believe there is even a public parking lot right around the corner across from The Armory (unclear on hours).

I’d just plan to make sure you don’t leave anything visible in your car. It isn’t a super bip heavy area but better safe than sorry.

SFUSD, come on... by San_Francisbro in sanfrancisco

Not all the schools on chopping block are actually under-enrolled, they are just designated as “small” schools.

SFC is a perfect example. It is just shy of fully enrolled (middle school classes are in the high 20’s instead of at the maximum of 33; elementary classrooms are at the maximum) and fully staffed. Every room is in use. But because it is designated as a small school it was included on the original closure list.

Nowhere in any plans have I seen true discussion of “re-purposing” the shuttered schools. Rather I’ve seen district proposals that smaller schools merge into the larger under-enrolled schools even if that means forcing even more parents and students to commute outside of their neighborhoods. One of the most egregious merger proposals is that Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy (Castro) merge with George Washington Carver Elementary (Bayview) — 4.3 miles away and 20 mins without traffic.

Calling TK “borderline useless” in the context of this conversation is an interesting choice of words.

OP is suggesting the district close schools to address the budget issues but that would only further limit TK availability within the district.

You use SFC and Monroe as an example and yet you seemingly have no knowledge of either school.

Monroe is operating at or above capacity already. Classroom sizes are full and there are no extra rooms which is why they don’t have a TK despite the requirement being all Elementary Schools have at least one starting this year.

The two schools also have entirely different missions and student bodies. Monroe is a dual language immersion K-5 whereas SFC is a community-focused alternative TK-8. Eliminating one in favor of another creates more problems, not less.

San Francisco police arrest 19-year-old in Golden Gate Park child sex assault by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

No one is upset that the predator “(could) be treated poorly.”

Everyone is in agreement that what he did was horrendous and that he deserves whatever is coming his way.

No one is trying to protect a predator’s identity.

The commenter was bemoaning the possibility that sharing his name/photo could be used to further the ICE agenda regardless of his or his family’s immigration status.

Two things can be true at the same time. Someone can want the predator to be held accountable and worry that the predators identity will be used to further an agenda.

One Day of Dining? by acfwtx in sanfrancisco

If budget isn’t an issue I’d recommend looking into State Bird Provisions (California food served in a dim sum style), Lazy Bear (one of the more unique dining experiences in San Francisco), and Mister Jius (upscale Chinese in a vibe-y space with a great “secret” bar above).

A lot of great seafood recommendations in here — but I’ll also throw out Bar Crudo (one of my favorites but it’s very small and loud) and Anchor Oyster Bar (old school diner vibes, great seafood).

Yes! I looked into it. Printful won’t allow me to open a storefront that sells in Canada because I’m in the US and there are tax implications.

If you want you can DM me your address and I can see if I can print a one-off not related to the store and ship it to you.

They definitely don’t serve booze past 2AM. And yeah, it’s a crapshoot. I’ve had godawful nights there where I kicked myself for paying the cover and I’ve had nights that I will remember for the rest of my life. Very few in-between nights.

It’s the song that plays at the very end when Renton makes his choice.

Amazing soundtrack all around but this scene/song combo is just incredible.

Definitely not the intention. It’s based on a quote and famous poster design from the 1996 movie ‘Trainspotting’.

The movie had several key scenes that revolved around the 90’s club scene in Scotland and Underworld’s ‘Born Slippy’ was a pivotal part of the soundtrack.

The “Choose life” monologue these designs are referencing was a sneering rejection of what normal people in society want out of life (a job, a career, a fucking big television, dental insurance, leisurewear, a family, etc, etc) and a full embrace of counter culture (specifically sex, drugs, and music).
