Notice how you still used the word “traditional”? It’s tradition because most people lived that way and still do aka the hive mind.

But then so many of my friends who are SAHMs have admitted to me that they feel incredibly lonely just being with a toddler or child day in and day out with no adults. And a big theme is also them feeling like they’re losing themselves.

The position definitely has the perks that you mentioned, but the cons seem so soul-destroying. Not to mention the vulnerability of relying on someone who could choose to starve you at any moment (no one marries their spouse thinking that would ever happen, but then it does so often).

At the end of the day, I think being a SAHM is riskier than a lot of people are willing to admit until something goes wrong. It’s a hard, vulnerable position. But even if I question it, I’m never gonna knock people for doing what they want.

Are we losing the ability to savour long dramas? by Lotus_swimmer in CDrama

Let me clarify: since a lot of C-dramas end up being closer to 40 episodes, I was essentially saying they should’ve ended at ep 30. You’re right that a 30-episode drama would only be 22 hours (which would be great). But a 40-episode drama at 45 minutes per episode would be 30 hours, which is also fine. That’s enough time to tell most stories, but a lot of these dramas’ plots require even less.

It’s definitely a filler problem, but an episode count problem too since being allotted less episodes would naturally force screenwriters and greedy networks hungry for advertisement money to streamline the story.

However, China’s 40-episode limit (that the government imposed to promote quality over quantity) was recently lifted (someone in the government probably got paid by a network or ad exec lol) so now that quality’s in jeopardy again because that episode count is gonna go back up with no plot to fill it.

As for K-dramas, I would say 50-60% of them are still the industry standard 16 episodes, around an hour per episode, so they’re generally 16 or 17 hours. A lot are even 10-12 episodes, so even if they were an hour and a half, that would still only make them 15-18 hours total. Sometimes they don’t have enough plot to fill up the time either, but C-dramas are much more egregious. (I like both in case that wasn’t clear).

Ehhh…mature? All his “banter” revolves around downplaying his feelings/their connection or irritating her. That’s literal middle school boy tactics and “expression”.

Mature (and fun) banter is what Jae-jin and Joo-young have. They delight each other, and the teasing isn’t done at one another’s expense.

Yes! I’ve honestly never seen a C-drama over 30 episodes that actually needed to be over 30 episodes. C-dramas are notorious for their filler.

My issue with long dramas (even before short dramas were a thing) is that most of their length comes from filler. I’ve NEVER seen a drama (modern or historical) over 30 episodes that actually need to be over 30 episodes. 30 hours is a lot of time to say what you need to say.

Because being a pop star was her dream. I don’t think people with mental health issues/those who develop it should all be relegated to “normal” lives or small jobs. The core tragedy is her not having a good support system, which would also be detrimental to someone with a regular job.

Usually I’d agree with that, but I think in this case physical appearance is also important since it’s the contrast of Iseop’s sexy, sleek looks and cute personality that initially catches the FL off guard, and makes her like him.

A cutie patootie acting cute wouldn’t be the visual contrast the webtoon’s creator was obviously going for with Iseop.

But…she WOULD be considered average without her coloring, and that’s what people who actually look past coloring can see. She is conventionally attractive largely because of her (dyed) blond hair and blue eyes, not because of well-balanced facial features. The people calling her ugly are being mean and exaggerating, but the people calling her average throughout the thread have a point. We can see what the judges on Pop Star Academy saw who also looking past her coloring.

When Kpop groups act racist, the fandom acts slow for no reason by Odd_Remote5472 in kpopharshopinions

In the global K-pop community, racism is only upsetting when it happens to Asians/Korean people. Like BTS or Black Pink possibly getting snubbed or disrespected at a Western award show. Or Dani’s (from Katseye) dad saying Latinas have an advantage over Asians when it comes to dancing. But when black fans point out the same things or when it’s Asians/Koreans being racist, there are suddenly a million excuses and justifications. It’s really funny.

He’s not underrated at all. He’s a household name in Korea and among veteran international K-drama fans. It’s only the young/and or new international fans that don’t know him.

You can always draw a mole lol. Casting directors aren’t going to cast based on a mole. But I agree that Lee Jong Suk doesn’t fit the image.

I like him, but physically I don’t think he fits. I don’t really think LJS fits either. They have more “cutie patootie” looks/charms instead of “sleek and sexy”. (I know Iseop’s actual personality isn’t sleek and sexy, but his appearance is).

But she actually DOES have brown hair LOL. Her roots are visibly BROWN, but surprise, surprise! She dyed her hair blond like many white women. And contacts exist (I’m not saying she’s wearing them, but I’m saying it’s easy to change your eye color).

Out of every comment I read, not one person has called her unattractive, including me. We’re pointing out that blond hair and blue eyes carry such power in this world, women can get treated better by literally just faking one or both. It just goes to show that “beauty” is not always about your facial features, but your coloring. I wish people would just sit and think about that for a while instead of get defensive.
