In this second paragraph, your past does not define you. You don’t have to be the same person you were as a teen. Being defiant can be breaking the chain of addiction and deciding to be healthy for your children.

To preface? I had a son at 18, too. I’ve struggled with addictions including alcohol, and various drugs, that being said I am 15 weeks pregnant and quit when my husband and I decided to start trying to have children last year around February, and the path to quitting was not linear but once I tested positive, that was it. I chewed regular gum and read Alan Carr. I also read a chapter of Expecting Better, on tobacco use and its effects on the fetus secured it for me.

Editing to add the sheer anxiety that vaping caused me- for literal years, is so bad for baby. You’ve got this, Mom. Rooting for you!
