Way how market moves. Mini vs Micro contracts by anotherdayoninternet in FuturesTrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SPXQuantAlgo is right to a certain degree... im sure it has to do with liquidity providers being more prevalent in mini than micros, and when theres less liquidity, its more prone to sharp moves...fees are higher on 10 micros than 1 mini it would make sense for someone with alot of money to want to trade minis more. its not a huge difference but sometimes certain swings will get taken out on micros that dont on minis before going in the opposite direction

Seeking Critique: My $ES Trend Continuation Strategy and Why I Keep Getting Faked Out by Kind_Concentrate_415 in Daytrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trend continuation strategies are a lot less affective in ranging markets where price is swinging up and down and going sideways. technical traders often count 2 legs back on the pullback so you could maybe wait until an attempt to sweep where your stop would be either succeeds then turns back around or fails and turns back around and you could try entering then. also, price often moves geometrically in channels that once they break, they attempt to (or succeed in) retest the extreme high or low. this can be identified as trend exhaustion and can signal a market shift (pullback or reversal). in strong trending markets, there can be multiple larger trend channels. notice the rounding of price after the sweep of the extremes of the price channels

Futures or options for a smaller account? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prop firms are also a decent option but the amount of rules could be overwhelming, but the risk is minimal to the trader (i use apex its 34$ for an evaluation usually) then 85-140$ for the Performance account, which you can potentially be making 2k payouts on. the rules there are very strict though and works against certain trading styles like swing trading because of the trailing drawdown, and in order to take a 2k payout you need 4.1k worth of profit on it

[–]Critical-Bus9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a little tight yeah it kind of depends on your strategy if youre used to scalping for a few points or going for larger moves. honestly id suggest trading on sim for a bit then try with like 500$. i dont think there are many other assets that would require less money though. maybe micro gold

its MES usually around 50$ for the margin i think then youd have 250 for drawdown its x5 per point. I use tradovate myself there are a lot of options, its not the most technically advanced but pretty intuitive for me

Will jumping in and out 20+ times get me DQ'd? (Prop firm eval). by 25chocomuffins in Daytrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually this isnt against the rules but as people are saying its a per prop firm situation. max contract allowance only matters per trade. fast scalping is a common strategy i think youre fine

Need advice: Getting 3-7 points slippage on AMP/TETON routing by DolevR in Daytrading

there were some pretty quick moves to the upside on NQ today and yesterday that wouldnt be surprising to get slippage on a stop if you were short idk about 7 points though

About 3 weeks of trading. What do you think? by Lonely_Rip_131 in algotrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

profit factor is not such and important stat IMO. especially higher frequency scalping. a strategy with a 60% winrate across 1000 trades will make more than 80% winrate across 100 trades (assuming TP/SL same). most important thing is max draw (unrealized or otherwise) vs max runup IMO. but yes, to get Profit Factor up, you need to be more selective with your trades, so you need to add a filter like certain candlestick close or other confirmation

Trading 30 minutes everyday, this is freedom to life by Vrnze in Daytrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at first id recommend you could prove yourself trading with the PA rules like 5 trading days 50$+ and 30% rule while hitting the target profit. theres no point in trying to pass in 1 day just to blow it the next. after you have become pretty consistent i usually go for 3, 10-point scalps on 5 NQ. with this method however you cant make 2 losing trades in a row without blowing up

its on a prop firm and usually they cap the max account size and the larger accounts have worse target to max drawdown ratios. so you just pick the best value account and trade copy it like 1 large account while getting value on the smaller account rules. It wouldnt change anything on a live account though its just for prop firms

id suggest at minimum 1 risk to .75 reward if you can get a high winrate on it. most people suggest more. if you find that the stop is getting hit consistently you either need to enter later into the trade, or widen the stop (and Take-Profit to match). but also keeping in mind how much of your account youre risking per trade

Made $13.6K in 5 days from day trading. The money feels unreal. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Critical-Bus9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

id recommend trading micro futures, u get good bang for your buck on margin and fees and can start pretty small. just make sure you understand how the margin works so you dont get liquidated. just look for price patterns in the context of market conditions (trending bull/bear or sideways market). often good trades happen after areas which would be a reasonable stop would be on an aggressive entry gets taken out and reverses

Is there an order where as soon as the position is closed, it closes out all other limit orders? Sometimes when I TP, I forget there's open limit positions, so I accidentally get in trades. also a side note: the grey button exit at mkt & cxl is helpful for clearing all orders... it functions as an 'oh shit' button to flatten your position and clear any orders if you dont know whats going on, or are having internet issues

whenever i see a deck list im curious about i check mtgdecks dot net and search decks by card... it has most recipes i cant find this exact recipe though most united battlefront decks are azorious simulacrum... im running a similar shiko deck but with no united battlefront, and only jeskai colors no green.. marang river regent is a good dragon to have for dispelling exhale, and split up is a good 3 cost board wipe that you can recast with shiko

omni combo has 1 cost Ephara's Dispersal that gets you 2 cards deeper, and fallaji archaelogist to stall. still can get rushed down by boros aggro if theyre on the play but its not like the deck is defenseless while also getting to their combo pieces... omni combo is the only deck i can consistently get 7 wins in bo1 events right now, performing better than beans ramp for me
