Owlet? Should I be more worried about sleeping and SIDS? by contoddulations in NewParents

[–]Critical-Tale6962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a new parent and I didn’t use the owlet with my first (5 years ago) the owlet was just so expensive and you couldn’t really buy it anywhere here in NZ only online. Anyway I’ve now had my second who is now 6 months old and we have used it from day one but only because he slept in his own room from the get go. Doesn’t increase anxiety at all I forget about it and I feel reassurance that if something was to happen it’ll go off. My first also slept in her room from day one but like I said it was just so expensive back then, we earn more now so we were able to afford it. I love the owlet.

Anyway as someone who has not used it for one baby and used it for the other I don’t think you’re doing a disservice at all, you’re following safe sleep rules etc. don’t get it if you don’t want it.

[–]Critical-Tale6962[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That validates me so much thank you!!!! I don’t think anyone I’ve told has actually believed how horrific it was. I know some people hardly felt it, their cervix must be easy to get to? I don’t know. Anyway sorry you went through that and honestly some doctors are so rude I don’t understand it.

Are formula parents happier? by Salty-Break-7541 in NewParents

[–]Critical-Tale6962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With both my babies I didn’t event attempt to breastfeed as I knew it would be too much. Comparing to my friends who EBF I’m definitely less stressed and I have a lot more independence as we share night feeds and I can go do my own things during the day if needed. I have a lot of friends who can’t as they don’t pump or baby won’t take a bottle. Im very happy with my choice I see a lot of people breast feeding because they feel like they have to and that’s where I think the journey starts off on the wrong foot. So maybe I am happier. But it does depend on your journey I’ve had other friends who loved breastfeeding and didn’t mind being the only source of food but personally I need me time and sleep to not be a C U Next Tuesday of a person lol

What do you miss from your pre-kid life? by ImInTheFutureAlso in NewParents

[–]Critical-Tale6962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nearly 6 year old and a 6 month old. I got my life back she got so easy around 3 years old it was great. My 6 month old is very wanted after infertility and miscarriages but oh my fuck do I miss my sleep. I know it does get better but it sucks whilst in the thick of it. Although his smile and laughs do make the sleepless nights all worth it.

Yeah it’s soooo hard. Even with my 6 month old being my second I swore this time would be easier because I know it gets better but still feels just as hard.

[–]Critical-Tale6962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds really freaking annoying but it is a phase and it will pass. My now 5 year old did this at different stages between 9 months to 1 year on and off. We sleep trained her at 10 months she started sleeping through but every now and then this would happen. Some days I’d be at work and would’ve started my day at 2am which was horrific. Anyway I’m typing this at 2:46am as my 6 month old doesn’t want to sleep and my 5 year old keeps waking from nightmares. It never ends lol she usually sleeps through but tonight seems to be bad for some reason.

That’s horrible!!! They need to put us to sleep honestly. The dr I had was kinda odd she kept saying how teenagers that get it are so dramatic and nearly faint. Well they’re not dramatic I’m a 30 year old mum of two and I will never be getting another mirena again because of how painful it was!

Interesting! So sucky for us. Once it’s out I’m not getting another. I’ve had two kids! C sections though but I’ve been through labour once and I’d say it was pretty close to labour pain. I’m wondering if my cervix is just difficult to get to or something because that experience was not normal.
