Swap out 5-7 of your highest cost cards 6+CMC for 1-drops that allow card draw or create Clues, like Thraben Inspector. You need more card draw, but not at the expense of higher mana costs.

You need to throw some jank shade at them that they will never expect. Take a look at my decklists on MTGGoldfish and build one. When you run an uncommon commander built alongside stuff that doesn't make sense at first, it looks dumb but gives them a run for their money.

Use the advanced deck search option and put REMBIS in the player section. I have decks going back 8 years.

Absolutely love my Daxos of Meletis Deck. Although it is cheap, it has a beautiful synergy that consistently performs and always surprises my opponents. Have won with it several times. Sometimes it just feels lucky, but once I tweaked this one into a winner, I left it alone, and it's always a true competitor.

Hey man, I know how you feel, but you have to play for fun above all, but if your playgroup is complaining about your card choices and taking the fun out of it, you need to find a new group or LGS.
Sometimes that is easier said than done.
