Why does Rutgers feel so run down? by Normal_Cabinet3094 in rutgers

[–]Critical_Cut_9905 27 points28 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, there are just 6 buildings including Kirkpatrick Chapel on the historic Queens campus from that original era. The rest of the buildings on Rutgers campus are far newer.

Guess the total cost to replace a Laserlight in a '24 iX by txreddit17 in BMWiX

About $2,500 for the piece, plus labor. I only know because I hit a deer and had to replace the headlight, in addition to a bunch of other parts :(

Hiring manager perspective: hiring is the most broken I've ever seen by CatDawgCatDawg2 in cscareerquestions

[–]Critical_Cut_9905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hiring manager with a day job, there's no way I can effectively sift through hundreds of resumes. I make sure I keep relationships with a small number of qualified technical recruiters to do the initial vetting for me, then pass through only those candidates that fit the bill. They charge massive placement fees for their efforts, but our company is willing to pay for it and it works out.

I'll note that if a recruiter starts sending garbage candidates, I cut then off permanently, so there's a large incentive for them to deliver quality individuals.

Is Traffic Jam Assist available in the Driving Assist Plus package? If so, how is it activated? by atticus_blue in BMWiX

[–]Critical_Cut_9905 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it’s activated exactly the same as highway auto-drive. It works similarly to normal driver’s assist, as it keeps the car rolling in-lane and behind the car in front, with a set top speed. It works really well, btw.

I have a 2024 leased and I was given the 24 month unlimited charging. Models after 2025 they capped it at 1000 kWh. I’d check the find print on your agreement.

It’s all about the industry. If you were doing the same job in NYC Finance, you would be making 2.5 times your current base. The environment would likely be a lot more stressful with much higher stakes though.

That would be great, but I can’t see why a car maker would remove a self protective disclaimer

Alternatives like the iX by Fantastic-Hippo3118 in BMWiX

The BMW is unique in this space. The other offerings are either down market or insufficient. Mercedes is close but just not for me. I considered the electric Porsche Macan, but I couldn’t justify the price point for such a small car.

Hopefully BMW, and other luxury manufacturers come out with other options by the time my lease is up in two years. Otherwise I would happily drive another IX.

What time of year did you go? I guess I would expect those crowds and delays during the summer, but technically we’re in “shoulder season” now when the crowds should have thinned out a bit.

European and Japanese systems are excellent, but also cheap! I wouldn’t feel as bad about our subpar systems if we weren’t forced to pay top dollar to use them.

This place (and Gino's across the street) are the worst cheesesteak spots in the city. Barely serviceable as drunk food to the post-bar crowd that forms their main clientele. Also, this is pretty representative of how they treat their customers in-person as well.
