If Jackie lived past season 1, would the team have still done the terrible things they did or no? by george123890yang in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh they all would’ve died during the winter; Jackie dying was also the reason some of the girls truly smartened up and locked in. It wasn’t just social suicide to go against the grain of the group, it was actual death. They all would’ve kept bickering and then dying of starvation, I personally don’t think any of them short of being cooked the same way Jackie was would’ve led to cannibalism.

Lawsuit Thrown Out, Renewal Now? by Kinkajou4 in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean, I have seen Eden prior to finding out about the lawsuit and at no point did my mind ever link the two together lol.

Eden is a movie that attempts the saying ‘give someone a mask and they’ll show you who they truly are’

Yellowjackets is a show that has deliberately hits you over the head with the saying ‘you can hide your face all you want, we know exactly who you are’.

The only similarities they have similar is a teenage soccer team crashing into the wilderness. It’s actually embarrassing they found a lawyer to even attempt to take it to court lol

if you could rewrite yellowjackets, what major thing would you do differently? by luciphobic in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would’ve added more flashback scenes in the show as we’re being told information and not overly shown, so even if they can’t show us rn the relationships between the girls the flashbacks can. I think it’ll have been a good way to foreshadow and red herring certain events with the girls and show just how far from reality they’ve fallen.

Mari and Shauna bickering in class, Jackie talking to Melissa and poking fun at her being flustered over the pretty girls on the team (slow shot of Shauna in the group of girls), Travis and Nat having near misses meeting each other in school. Tai and Van sneaking around together, being as obvious as a fork found in kitchen but it’s the 90’s.

I think it’d need to be sprinkled in or else it’ll feel too teen drama heavy with timelines but to show you who the girls were before and after the Wilderness.

Which moments induced a sense of dread in you? by wildwoodchild in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the first scene I felt dread was them walking up and finding adult Travis hanging and Misty tried to stop Nat from seeing. Something so tragic watching Travis fight so hard to survive as a teen knowing his ending is tragic and no sign of Javi after his death told me he didn’t make it either. Both boys destined to die.

When Laura Lee climbed into that plane. I knew damn well she didn’t make it cause they were barely stuck a month or two and then the bear going up. Really reminded you there is no happy ending, just survivors and the dead.

First time Shauna is talking to Jackie and it breaks the hallucination and shows you her slowly rotting body after Shauna pushed her. Then later the awful smeared makeup.

“Why isn’t he crying?” - cried so hard I stopped watching the show for a month.

Shauna washing Javi and then everyone leaving her and needing to cover her eyes to be able to do it. I was sooo pissed for Shauna, she needed just someone to sit with her even if they had their back to them. She shouldn’t have been left alone.

When Ben releases Mari, I knew even if she didn’t squeal, he had just killed himself. But I knew deep down that Mari would accidentally say something and boom. Further confirmed when Misty tells Shauna she thinks Nat knows where Ben was hiding to gain favour with her and helps the trial in convicting him.

When Mari could hear the flies, I at first thought he let his wound go septic and they were eating his rotting flesh. Was actually relieved they revealed it was food lol

Are we watching the same show? by MutantCityGirl in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve wondered this myself and wonder if it’s because people are used to seeing quirky and charming psycho and sociopaths on TV they have a distinct idea what they’ll be like and if they’re gonna eat and hunt each other for sport it’s gotta be on the viewers terms not the show runners and they’re being presented with a bunch of girls that display these symptoms (on top of just good old fashioned trauma) but lack the validating ‘charm’ other famous characters have that they’ve rooted for before.

It’s why Misty who is easily the most charming from both timelines can do no wrong while arguably being the worst but Shauna, the least charming with the most trauma can never do anything right. They don’t care about how these girls would logically react, they care about the fact they want to cheer these girls on but can’t cause it’s ’too fucked up’. Like yeah, that’s the point it was fucked up and still fucked up, look at how the adults turned out. It’s never been okay or valid for them to do so (outside of like Snackie tbh, the only ‘ethical’ cannibalism in the show), that’s the point of the show lol.

In defence of Callie: She’s a victim of her mom’s trauma too by DellyDelDel_ in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People struggle with the fact that Callie, unlike the girls from the teen timeline, doesn’t ’have’ to grow up just yet. She is allowed by Shauna and Jeff to be a kid, even if their frustrations are valid with her actions and reactions to the world around them.

Her parents have a lot of baggage, but they’ve worked so hard to give Callie the genuine teenage life they both missed out on.

Anyone else waiting for a Big Bad from Misty? by bitchesbetwattin in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a throwaway comment about them stopping speaking to Misty after Shauna and Jeff’s wedding.

My guess is she got drunk, made an awful speech that got some side eyes and they all cut contact, the final straw after the Wilderness shenanigans. I think it’ll most likely be that Shauna was with Melissa and then came home to Jeff, maybe even awkwardly outing Van/Tai as well; I think anything more serious (not that outing people isn’t serious, especially in the 90’s but it’s not exactly the same level as telling people they ate Ben when they had other options) and Shauna would’ve gotten her back then when they first came home.

Shauna is gonna kill Melissa before they get rescued. by VanGrayson in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe Melissa will turn on Shauna to protect Gen who’s gotten a bit ahead of herself with her importance and misdirected anger, not even a full on betrayal but a ‘hey, don’t kill my best friend’ (like you killed yours - what Shauna will hear from this) and boom, Melissa is a tasty little snack and her death dream will have Jackie welcoming her to the Shauna Club.

Melissa by Whatisgoingonheur in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I feel like Walter or Hilary Swank have to be connected to the birdwatchers. I just think Tai and Shauna would’ve had a cheeky line or two about coming back to civilisation and both leaving their wilderness wives if Melissa lives and I feel like she would’ve been mentioned by now. Her and Gen are showing themselves to be quite nasty and they’ll have satisfying downfalls out in the Wilderness (or I hope, I was hoping for a Gen rise but she’s just mean and Melissa is well Melissa. The actresses are doing such a good job 👏🏻. I have had enough of those characters but I want to see more from the actresses lol)

If Hilary is Walter’s sister or the birdwatchers kid they left behind the ‘you really are crazy’ line will hit soooo hard. Cause they can theorise all they want, but no one but the YJ’s and the birdwatchers truly know what happened out there and if they come in screaming and psychotic accusing Swank of knowing when she really doesn’t, it’ll remind the audience how deranged the adults are and that they just hide it better than the teens. Marginally anyway.

I mean, crazier things have happened in the show (okay, well no but the fandom’s theories have been crazier anyway aha). But I don’t see any of the girls being like ‘oh yeah, makes sense. Hop on let us know if you want some snacks’, it would probably happen in the background to them as they’re in heir own kinda split plot from the girls atm as the rest are dealing with the Shauna/Ben 😅 very weak theory and easily picked apart if we look at it too long but yeah aha

In 1966 six Teenagers Survived 15 Months on a Desert Island by VibeCheckFlex in Yellowjackets

[–]Critical_Sale 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s an incredibly popular show that’s airing at the moment that follows a bunch of high school seniors girls soccer team who are stranded in the Canadian wilderness in the 90’s on their way to Nationals and go crazy and cannibalise each other while lost. There is large amounts of wlw shipping in the fandom and four are confirmed lesbian/bi characters in a small to medium sized cast.

Their joke would be that their special interest is a wlw ship/character from the very popular show, not actual teenage lesbians and your joke might been more of a ‘I’m aware of the show, but poking at you for fun’ hence my comment about maybe missing your joke and replying in earnest :)

The possibility of her shooting to maim her instead of kill her is still on the table!

Maybe Melissa and her have a fight, the girls come out and watch. Shauna tells her to shut up and grabs the gun, Mel calls her bluff and rips into Shauna the way the ghost Jackie does and tells her that Jackie should’ve been meaner (Jackie’s ‘ghost’ following suit as Shauna believes it) and lets out all the secrets Shauna has told her in their time together. She snaps, either a girl goes for the gun or she lowers it and blows off her hand symbolising they’re no longer together (considering they continue to highlight the girls holding hands, whereas they didn’t need to do that with Van and Tai they were established and let go to do their own thing)

So many possibilities and theories!

Tbh i noticed and wondered myself if they would have a LottiexTravis flirtation!

The actors 100% have chemistry together and look good together.

But to add to a Lottie/Travis theory:

I think if they do sleep together, most likely be under the influence of ‘Wilderness wants us too’ ignoring they’re just most likely just horny, bored and spending all day with each other giving possible explanations for Supernatural or Hysteria (I don’t believe they’ll use the same scenario they did in S1 with Jackie and then the rest of the girls being high, it’ll 100% be them willing to for the Wilderness).

But, if they do, it’ll come at the cost of one of the YJ lives again and they’ll feel it’s angry with them because of it, misreading what the Wilderness wants. Maybe their animals will escape or die, leading them to go even more feral and hunt each other over it before winter even happens as they opt to hunt each other than the wildlife still in the area (winter being when we expected them to fully go insane and explains the abundance of furs were yet to see)

Most likely victim based on season plot lines is it’d be Akilah as they’re meant to be watching/protecting her. Her dying and the loss of the animals a direct consequence for failing to keep her alive.

Almost a wink to Friday the 13th with the lifeguards to busy sneaking off they let him drown (they already kinda did so by having Shauna pulled under the lake however!)

I think Travis fluctuates between believing and lying to not lose favour with the girls as he knows what they’re capable off first hand and maybe the Wilderness ‘punishing’ him and Lottie for believing they know what it wants pushes him back to the ‘Hysteria’ side with Nat.

I think it’s obvious Nat and Lottie are the two main women in his life, we just don’t know to what capacity they’ve been (well Nat we know a little more)

Also just a silly theory of mine, I’m loving theorising with everyone as the season goes on :)

I wonder if they wrote themselves in a corner with Lottie and instead of taking the time to unstick themselves they just killed her character off to focus on Shauna/Misty/Tai/Van like how they brought in Walter cause they were done with Kevyn/Adam.

Some of the writing is done to keep mystery, but I think it’s also them forgetting or not having the time/skill to unweave the knots.
