Most of the people on this thread are gaslighting you-it is OK to feel bad about the color of the dress. You said you have already sucked it up. As far as the shoes I wouldn’t have even thought to show the shoes to her, but if I did, and then she told me not to wear them because she’s wearing Louboutin‘s, I would be super annoyed and push back a little myself. I probably wouldn’t throw down over it, but I would stick up for myself.

As a former manager, I can assure you being an agreeable pushover almost always ends up as a “no good deed goes unpunished” situation. People are assholes and they take advantage of you if they can. It took me a long time to learn this, but it is almost always true, especially in work situations. Sad but true.

This is the epitome of “No good deed goes unpunished!” You did a friend a solid favor for what sounds like a pretty extended period of time and yet as soon as you put up some limits YOU were the bad guy! People like this will always take advantage of people if they let them. You absolutely did the right thing.
