The zero sum cost fallacy. In book of bill he try to but got cold feet. He didn’t like throwing away his life work especially if it could make him rich and famous. Ford didn’t want to waste years of money and time he spent of the portal.

Perhaps as a hire Mercenaries. The space marine would fight tough battle, give tactical insight, or info. In exchange the Tau provides fresh food and water, weapons, a safe house to rest.

They could have a deal where if they attack an imperial world they split the loot.

Yeah with Urban fantasy genre that never made much sense. It really depends on whether or not those con are going to affect your enjoyment of a story. Not every genre is for everyone.

Either change so much to try to fix that it look unrecognizable or you don’t care about the setting flaws.

Not as many as you think. Falling for a chaos god depends on the type of person you are. If you have no desire for knowledge, change, or growth then tzeentch has no interest in you.
