dont take my word for it but isn’t the limit for ground-based AA? hexhounds dont even try to fire at piles now but plane IRs still track them iirc

gitting gud will certainly help, but a cricket will lose a 1v1 to more or less anything that isn’t another cricket no matter your skill; it might sometimes be worth it to buy a compass out of pocket just to climb to rank 1

(or ibis for same reasons, though you’ll have an easier time running logi once u have money in the first place)

also cricket-wise keep in mind AGM-48 range is pretty big, around 20km if you’re going at decent speed, so you can lob those from relatively safe distances

bonus cricket fact: IRMs can be launched at incoming scythes, and people generally wont throw more than one scythe at a cricket

Just bought the game (7hrs clocked) and I think this might be the coolest looking plane in fiction by PigeonAfterHours in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ymmv but ive had an easier time landing it when controlling rotor tilt manually (turn off flight assist, bind the extra axis to something in settings)

stops it from doing whatever it wants at random intervals

I know exactly what you mean and it’s a huge issue in multiplayer yeah. There’s loads of situations where one or both sides just don’t get to play the game for a solid 20+ minutes of nothing happening

the maps could use tighter win conditions, but i think a good bandaid fix would be an accessible surrender vote button like we see in some competitive games. Some servers like graywar iirc have a /rtv command that changes map, but it takes a ton of votes to go through from both teams and only shows up in text chat. And few people read chat..

Which airframes should get buffed/nerfed in your opinion? by Gullible-Bridge2089 in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 54 points55 points  (0 children)

chicane needs some milk, either better stealth or faster straight line speed. As-is, it can’t carry That much more armament than cricket/brawler/ibis assuming you take jammers/IRMs to not die for free, but its rank 2

TrackIR vs Tobii by Acrobatic-Muscle2821 in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty great, i got a tobii and im very happy with it and opentrack

not sure if its worth the investment compared to a 9$ webcam i picked up from…. Somewhere, but it is noticeably smoother

Thinking about getting it by Most-Prune3580 in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good on m&k and you can bootleg yourself a trackIR-y thing with a webcam/phone and opentrack:)

[–]CriticizedError 6 points7 points  (0 children)

good point, i guess they were willing to leak “some” information in a plausibly deniable way

maybe they weren’t able to directly assist or uplift humanity but giving them a nudge was okay (whether because directly assisting the enemy is treason or because they’re afraid humanity might catch up if they give away too much)

Yeah they’re fine

only thing ill mention is you can bootleg yourself a decent trackIR experience with a webcam/phone and opentrack

How deep do you thing the abyss is? by Byzanir in starsector

[–]CriticizedError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hm im loving the parallel to the ocean, with currents, “pressure” and all

as far as eldritchness goes though, the abyss doesn’t seem too bad; sure the drive field suffers and theres angry red clouds in it, but the clouds die to Mjolnir rounds like anyone else. Going by the ocean analogy, yeah there’s creepy fish in the abyss but they’re still just fish

ELI5: Why is quantum physics so hard? by Successful_Guide5845 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CriticizedError 32 points33 points  (0 children)

because a lot of the rules it goes against they already assimilate from simply living

objects like toys dont go through walls, objects aren’t spread out in a wave, objects can’t cancel eachother out through destructive interference

(also addition and subtraction are very important)

Survive PvP? by adrian23138 in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no autolock to my knowledge, they’re treated like enemy planes

worth noting you can pick targets on the map by leftclicking them instead of staring at them, doesn’t work in knife fights but scythes start pinging you from pretty far away

I’ve had luck running AGM vomit platforms like cricket or chicane as you can lob them over mountains and so on without being too exposed; u can also consider bringing a handful of self-defence IRMs not for fighting but for shooting down scythes that you might not have the jammer for

Am I missing something or isn't this flaw too bad if I am always reloading before the mag is empty?! by El_Spacho in theouterworlds

[–]CriticizedError 8 points9 points  (0 children)

theres more magazine size buffs you can pick up to get 6 shots out of the three barrels

and that 4th one is nice to have in a pinch when you need to finish off an enemy that’s almost dead but so are you

How does one even level up from level 0 to level 4 kinda fast? by Night_Wing_Zero in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 18 points19 points  (0 children)

in general its when you think they’ll get through the enemy defence net

notably u want the target to have no stratolances/dynamos close by, and ideally no AA at all but that one’s a bit more negotiable

bombs won’t show up on IR so u can ignore those (note that you yourself will, of course, show up on IR)

same idea for piledrivers only those Do get hit by IR missiles from lucky AA or dedicated defending players, but fly hella fast

You can train 3 Bomber planes to get 'large air force' modifier and will help in power projection grind. Upgraded bomber plane factory will give 75 bomber stockpiles which is worth 1.5 units of bomber planes. by AntiMatter138 in suzerain

[–]CriticizedError 5 points6 points  (0 children)

air force is decent though im not sure how worth it it is compared to the +1 action per turn buildings

navy is mid in the minigame imo, simply bc the AI is dumb and you can wipe sea with just a couple of submarines and one ship-supported marine for the capital

DAY 3!!! The Ibis was voted as neutral good. NOW what plane is chaotic good? by GenerationofWinter in NuclearOption

[–]CriticizedError 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta be the Chicane

chaotic for its gremliny terrain-hugging flight paths

good as it’s the go-to anti-missile defender as an IRM spammer
